Bidrage med feedbackWe have eaten at this restaurant 3 times in the last 2 years, our first two visits were a little disappointing but the service and the ambiance was exceptional so I waited to leave a review. This week 's meal was very good, but I 'm leaving 3 stars for the following reasons. We called ahead to inquire about a reservation and to see what was being served that night. We were accommodated last minute which was a win, we were told it was a prix fixe menu with homemade pasta, lamb sirloin with creamy horseradish with ratatouille and a pecan tart for dessert for $42 per person. We made our reservation and the service and meal were excellent. Now the plate pictured was the main entree for 2, for $84 to get about maybe a 1/2lb of lamb and a simple ratatouille seems excessive, first complaint. Second compliant, after we finished and had the check delivered we noticed the charge was for $103, we only had the meal with water no other beverages ordered. The charge on the check was labeled as pre-tip?? We asked the server about it and were told that a 15% hotel service fee is automatically added and that she would not receive any of that fee which is why it was labeled pre-tip . When we called to make the reservation it was explained about a 15% gratuity charge, but now being told that this is for the hotel and not the server! Very shady, we of course tipped our server for her great service but after adding another $20 for her, the bill is now $123 for what was quoted as a $84 meal. It 's not the money but the principal. Just charge want you need to charge and don 't bait and switch. I don 't like to leave bad reviews but this really put me off. Please consider re-thinking this practice or make sure that when booking the reservations that it is made clear the your charging for the meal, an extra 15% for the house and then a gratuity for the server to be determined by the customer.
Officially the best restaurant in Boonville (admittedly, there's only 5 or so to choose from, but wow, this one is the star). Sitting out under the tree covered patio at dusk, sipping local wine and eating the Sunday night paella can't be beat. Utterly romantic, and full of small town warmth and friendly little surprises. This was our first meal shared as a married couple after our wedding in Philo, and it was the perfect end to a magical weekend. They typically serve a prix fixe dinner menu (on Fri Sat), always changing and seasonal and all that good stuff. The best dish I've ever had here was a halibut ceviche with a creamy piperade sauce served in a raddicio cup. Mind blowing! Huge portion for a reasonable $10. Dessert of the day was a simple but decadent sundae with vanilla ice cream, caramel maple sauce and toasted pecans. Do make a reservation, as they book up easily. There's indoor and outdoor seating, both charming, though the patio should not be passed up if the weather cooperates. Any excuse to soak up the ambiance of their twinkle lit, secret garden setting. Yes, Boonville is a down to earth place, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some little luxuries along the way and that's why we'll always stop for a meal at Table 128!
Went with a friend for a 'small plate ' dinner we could not eat the 'prefix menu ' without prior reservation . Nice setting, service totally absent, below average quality of the food, all that for $50 per person tip included. We ordered at the bar: 1 glass of wine each and 4 'small plates ' to share that were delivered at the table without a tablecloth! of our choosing in the garden. Thereafter, there was no water, no bread, no service whatsoever we even had to go back to the bar to get a second glass of wine. Of the 4 plates, the best was the carpaccio of halibut ; otherwise, ordinary green salad, duck pâté that was in fact 'mousse de canard ' with roasted pepper corn !? , and grilled cheese sandwich that was basic and burned. So your conclusion? Yes, I agree, not worth it! To avoid!
Great local restaurant, service, atmosphere all outstanding. Halibut was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth! Thought the food, portions and atmosphere was quite a bit better than the Bewildered Pig!
The menu is always prix fixe, so call ahead and see if you like what they're serving. In our case, it was ribeye for two, a radicchio salad, and a salted caramel chocolate tart with candied orange peel. As noted by other reviewers, the tipping situation is a little unexpected, but we didn't have an issue as we were so happy with our meal, the server, the quaint atmosphere, and the whole delightful experience. It's a unique adventure out in the middle of nowhere, something that just can't be duplicated easily elsewhere. Plan on the usual tip (15-20% plus another 15% for the hotel and now you've got the right idea. The meal was quite exceptional. The raddichio salad was lightly dressed in a not quite sweet mustardy/balsamic dressing. The ribeye was a perfect medium rare with just the right amount of seasoning. I'm not much of a chocolate person, but, OMG, that chocolate tart! The best dessert I've had in years. The candied orange strip placed on top of the tart could be packaged and sold. They'd get rich, I tell you! The only sour note was the blown toilet wax seal in a bathroom located right next to the entry dining area. The faint smell of urine permeated that first dining room. Fortunately, they sat us in the fireplace room far enough away from the odor. Finally, it's quite a winding drive to get here, and I'm glad we did it--once. Not sure if I'm motivated to hoof it out there anytime again in the near future. Definitely worth the one time effort though.
