Takeshi - Bochum

The sushi was unique and creative, new creations at every visit. Definitely the best sushi in Bochum. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of sushi provided. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. Service is also top. Sometimes its full...then there is a bit of a wait but its worth every second.

The Sushi was awesome but the service was horrible, nothing in English on the menu which makes it tough to order which is too bad because the food in this place would have easily earned 5 stars. Oh well, an American in Germany

If the quality of the Sushi were the only criterion here, this place would have easily earned 5 stars. But there is so much more to creating a pleasant dinning experience for the guest service, value, timing – and, sadly, that’s where Takeshi missed...the mark on our recent visit. The positives: The sushi is really good, especially considering that this Bochum, not L.A. The fish was fresh, Miso was tasty, rice cooked to perfection, and everything was skillfully arranged. The negatives: The menu is really limited. Don’t expect to come here and order octopus, sweet shrimp, eel, or anything other than salmon or tuna for that matter. Now that alone would be OK, if the limited menu allowed the chefs to push out orders in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen: We waited a full 2 hours for our simple and humble order to make it to the table, and were, in fact, really close to just walking away from the entire dinner. Not a word from the servers as to why we were waiting so long, no apologies, no free drinks or desserts on the house as a sing of goodwill. At this price point, that’s not just ignorant, but simply rude and disrespectful of the guest’s time and money. So, while the food was good, the overall experience was a disappointingly bland and shockingly expensive venture. No recommendation here.

Takeshi's has the best Sushi in the area. It is beautiful to look at and wonderful to eat. His selection of wines is also first class. I highly recommend it!
