Bidrage med feedbackFor that special occasion or just to treat yourself to something amazing then you must experience this restaurant. Not only is the food a taste sensation, its also had exceptional presentation. The staff are friendly, informative and efficient, they are like a well oiled team, delivering our dishes at the same time ( there were 4 of us) and even pouring respective sauces together. Hats off to the chefs who you could see working away in the kitchen. We had the luxury of staying in the suites that are on the property and so glad we did. We couldn't fault the rooms. Home away from home.
We've been following Dan for a while now, since Damian and I were in our honeymoon period 6 years ago, our first encounter of his cooking was at Royal Mail to now, an experience at Brae that just keeps getting better and better. Thanks so much Dan to you and your team - for all the amazing food, but importantly memories that will last a lifetime!!
Wonderful food from Dan Hunter and his team in the kitchen, a great selection of wines and spirits, flawless customer service from Simon Freeman and the front of house team all made for a memorable return visit to Brae. Highly recommended!
Brae certainly lives up to its standard of reaching the top 50 in the world. The staff are welcoming and friendly and keen to give advice on the food they are presenting and the wine list. One of our party was particularly interested in how the sour dough bread was made and we were invited into the kitchen at the end of our meal where Dan was happy to chat and give some hints on attaining his standard of bread.Food was delicious and I would advise you to try everything even if the ingredients are not those you would usually pick eg green ants,or eel donuts or a parsnip tulle! Standouts for me were the duck mains and the parsnip and apple dessert but all courses were delicious. I finished the meal feeling pleasantly full but not overly so as the courses were cleverly sized. If you do nothing else in life, treat yourself to a once in a lifetime feast of great ingredients treated in an inspiring manner.
I was wanting to dine at Brae for quite sometime because it was among the top 100 restaurants in the world. While I was waiting (having booked 4 months in advance) they progressed to the 47th position in the ranking. I was delighted. We did Sunday lunch with non-alcoholic drink pairing. Food was great, mostly coming from their farm. The piece of honeycomb came with a dish was the best I ever had. Every dish was made to perfection. You can't beat the freshness of the food straight from the farm. In that sense, Brae tops the list in Australia. However, having dined in world class restaurants in other parts of the world, I was expecting the same level of service. Their service was great, but, I thought they were still a little below the standard. One point I would like to highlight is that in other top restaurants, they offer small stools for ladies to have their handbags. We had to leave them on the floor at Brae. Other top end restaurants (like Robuchon in Macau) have beautiful shiny toilet areas, but in Brae they were average. I believe they have room to improve and can do better.
