We had my father's wake at the Plough and they were so accommodating providing us with the exclusive use of the conservatory. The buffet had lots of variation and more than enough to feed everyone who attended. Becky was always on hand when required and Leah worked like a trojan behind the bar and never lost her smile. Christmas Eve... table of 6, pre ordered 3 course meal and what a disappointment. We left after over an hour and a half of being there after only having a starter and then receiving our cold main courses, served on cold plates, with crispy crumbly Yorkshire pudding, cold veg and freezing cold turkey, all of which were sent back. We sat with our empty starter plates for 20 minutes and a 40 min wait following this to receive cold food. As a family, we were really looking forward to today, treating it as our Christmas day as I 'm a carer and working over Christmas. It 's the first time all of us have been together for years. We used think a lot of this place, and held special memories after having my nans wake there years ago and regularly frequented over the years. We were told that they 'd ran out of napkins and one of them had to go to bookers to get more... when they 've got 160 booked for Xmas day, im not sure how you arent prepped with supplies like this!! We 've come away deflated that our 'Christmas day ' has been spoilt, the kids upset and hungry and us all really disappointed. Good luck to anyone going there for Xmas day, I hope you have a better experience than we did. The one star reflects the fact we got a refund of our deposit and all we actually ended up paying for was the drinks, which were fine.
