Bidrage med feedbackWent here on Saturday lunch at 12pm had 3 roast rice and roast was still warm so that's good. Belly pork and duck recommended the char siu was too slim for my taste so a bit dry. Don't bother with the dim sum har kau and siu mai they are not done by chef but bought from frozen avoid. The roast is decent
Another good meal at Peach Garden. Tasty, authentic Chinse food, which reminds me of things we would eat at home. My go to dish recently has been the 4 meat on rice (char sui, crispy pork belly, poached chicken with garnish of spring onion (maybe ginger) and oil, and some roast duck. And yes, perfectly acceptable to eat the meats cold. I also love the roast duck rice, beef ho fun (done without sauce) and the sweet and sour dishes. Some things are obviously done for non-Chinese customers (e.g. the pancake roll, not dissimilar to what we use to sell in our Chinese take-away in a small Northamptonshire town. There are no frills and it's not a place to hang out in. Always has Chinese customers, I notice lots of Chinese customers and lots of people eating on their own, which I do sometimes. Glad to have introduced my friends to it on this occasion.
Possibly authentic, certainly basic, this canteen style Chinese is not for the faint hearted more used to their local takeaway. Some dishes were slimy, some cold, none very pleasant. Avoid if not adventurous.
Quick service, chose from menu upon entering, place and pay for order. Very pleasant, basic food. Roast Duck Rice, a bit dry, level plated at £11. Would go again.
Last Saturday (15th April) we had a massive portion of rice with meat/sauce and rice with veggies/sauce washed down with our best (non-alcoholic) beverage. You can even help yourself to the menu and cutlery/chopsticks by the entrance, order by the serving hatch and pay there before leaving (although they do have a waiter/waitress doing the rounds). And we got served within 10 minutes from ordering. Quite spacious interior although you may need to squeeze between certain tables when it's busy. Each table has a small range of seasoning and condiments. The chilli oil is great for giving your food extra heat (we had 3tsp each). Great value for money at just under £25. You won't need a starter, because the servings are massive. I noticed a few plates of leftovers from patrons who had eyes bigger than their bellies. Even walking to the bus stop afterwards was a struggle.
