Bidrage med feedbackI have been to the bar a few times. The bartenders are very friendly. This place is a local regular hangout. The beer selection is minimal. The food came recommended, but honestly both times I ate here it was below average in my opinion. They said the gumbo was really good. It tasted like it had been made three days earlier and microwaved before being served. The bottomline is if you want to have a beer in a chilled unpretentious place, this is an okay place to hang out. If you are looking for a bistro quality food with fresh ingredients prepared daily, then try Bistro V in Vestavia about 3 4 miles away instead.
The only reason I'm giving this four stars is because of the onion rings and the fried pimento cheese appetizers. I would go back just to have those. The service was mediocre and I didn't get the onion on my burger I asked for. Also, if you get the BAB burger, it does not have cheese on it : it says what comes on it on the menu but I guess I just expected it to have cheese on it and it did not. Would have been better with cheese : will be back but am hoping the service will be a little better next time.
I have been meaning to check out JoJo's for a while now. Conveniently in the area, the opportunity presented itself. Upon arrival, friendly staff told us to grab a table wherever we like. The ambiance felt like a neighborhood bar. Not exactly what I expected, but not a bad sign. After my experience, I wish this was MY neighborhood bar. Still having meetings afterwards it was not an experience to try the bar side of things. But the draft selection looked decent. I was here to eat. I was torn between what I got, and something else I can't remember. After our waiter gave his recommendation, fish chips it was. This past summer while in San Francisco, I went to one of the consistently top restaurants on Yelp IN THE COUNTRY and they primarily do fish chips. So my expectation level was low because the bar had been set so high. The Snakehandler's high alcohol content apparently was prime for fish frying. Because the fish was outstanding. With a side of malt vinegar and tartar sauce, it was very close to what I had in SF. And because it was closer to the present, I was currently enjoying this more. The fries (chips) were nothing outstanding, but certainly nothing bad. But I just wish I had more fish as opposed to those! A definite try if you are a fish and chips fan.
Let me start off by saying I work in the restaurant industry. The little food we got was good but service was horrible mainly because of the bartender. She isn't helping out the waiter who is overwhelmed with tables.... This place has two rooms and an outside area. The bartender has played with the tips and ignored the fact she might need to help the server. Restaurant operations 101, move your ass and take care of the customers.
Flew into town, Uber'd in/out, good thing, next to no parking/cute neighborhood. Tried my hand foolishly at the Italian next door (packed , ended up at JoJo's, thank the lord because the other option was a dry cleaners ; Thx Yelp mobile app. Live music up front, booth in the back. Opted for the steak, tater, grilled veges, and a drafty kilt. Was not disappointed. Crowd was local, and friendly. Shout out to the live music man (did not catch name but kudos for these three tunes in particular: 1 Bad Leroy Brown 2 Windfall 3 Redemption Song
