Bidrage med feedbackI recently went back to Vegan Treats, and this time I tried the soft serve ice cream. I was skeptical, so I asked for a sample which was freely given (but not easily as the machine has a rather large minimum it will dispense at once). They offer one flavor at a time, and the flavor changes whenever the current batch runs out, about every day or two. I count myself lucky to show up on a day that the flavor was pineapple (one of my favorite dessert fruits, but under represented in the ice cream world). It was fantastic! The consistency was a little unusual but very good, I let the ice cream sit in my car for about an hour when I was grocery shopping and it only slightly melted. I put it in the freezer, and it did get hard, but I set it out on the counter and it softened up to perfect consistency after about 30 minutes. In some bites the flavor was more vanilla than pineapple, and others more pineapple than vanilla. I highly recommend giving this a go, and as it is vegan, I’d recommend to those lactose intolerant people out there that don’t usually get to have ice cream (although you probably want to verify with the store that it is suitable for your allergies).
This bakery is open daily until 9 pm, making it convenient to go to when other bakeries are closed. Peanut butter bomb was overly rich. Tiramisu donuts didn't have much flavor. Tried butterscotch cookie.
We are so lucky to have such a famous and popular vegan bakery here in Bethlehem. And for a vegan bakery, the desserts are surprisingly decadent; it 's easy to forget they 're vegan! But they are all very, very sweet. Almost all of the offerings are heavy on the frosting lots of cakes, whoopie pies, and bombs. Everything tastes like sugar and oil, leaving a greasy (or plasticky, like some folks have said) feeling in the mouth. When we first came here I thought we 'd be here all the time but the richness and oiliness is a big turnoff. It would be great if there were a wider range of 'treats, ' maybe some relying more on fruit, or more savory flavors... The cookies are by far the best of the selection, but even those can be hit or miss. I know this is a beloved institution in Bethlehem, and it is certainly the best vegan bakery, but I have unfortunately found it to be overhyped.
It doesn't look like much from the outside but the sweet baked goods wafted outside the door. When you walk in the oven gooey smell of baked good overtakes anything you are thinking about. The staff is super friendly they have every flavor cake you can think of and a wide variety of gluten free cakes.
My friends and I tried the doughnuts, a strawberry cheesecake cannoli, banana oat chocolate cookie, and a very yummy banana cheese cake. The whipped topping on the cheesecake was so fluffy and like nothing I've tasted before. The cookie was so moist and rich. My friends also really liked their treats. A great shop to stop in if you're in the area.
