Bidrage med feedbackExcellent Swiss-German restaurant in the heart of multicultural Kreuzberg. Reasonable prices for really delicious foods. I heartily recommend trying any of the Röchti's on the menu, which are basically Switzerland's answer to home fries from the USA. There is also an always-updating daily specials menu. Plenty of outdoor seating during warm weather as well as a cozy interior. The staff are friendly and competent. Really a great neighborhood location. They even have a big screen that they put to use during major football matches.
Few feets away from the crazy Kreuzberg ares (Oranienburgestr/Kottbusser Tor), and yet quit and relaxed. Make sure you bring a lot of hunger with you, because the portions are big, and filling. The nicest hungarian Gulch in town!
Great service! We were a party of 6 and shared delicious fondue and Röschtis and it was plenty (includes individual salads). Oh and the server recomended good red/white wine that paired perfectly. Very authentic feel and environment.
Röschti is essentially a giant fried potato pancake, with adornments (from swiss cheese and apple sauce to fried eggs and bacon). Granted, I can't imagine many circumstances in which this would not be incredibly tasty, but Helvetia serves up some high class hashbrowns with friendly service to boot. Plus, they assuage some of your starch-and-oil guilt by serving a really lovely side salad. Great for a cold and rainy night!
The food was very good. I had the cheese fondue with two others. Others had the gulash and a duck cassoulet. That was all perfect. The staff was also cool: they gave nice wine suggestions that worked well. And then she adviced a schnaps that is made with Nutella. It was clear and very tasty and made us order another one. Then the desert, which was very good. Lve this place. Food, bubbles, deserts, schnapses: the price was much lower than we expected.
