Bidrage med feedbackThis little cafe is close to S Charlottenburg, which is my usual haunt. So deciding to be adventurous I walked right in. Man was I rewarded. The prices are unreal for this place and the food seasoned to perfection. Granted I don't know much about Russian food but my boyfriend and I've been back A LOT. So far I can recommend the fish soup and the meatball soup, as well as the pelmeni. Yeah. This place is the bomb. GO.
Pelmeni is a small lunch spot on bustling Kantstrasse, in walking distance to S-Bahn Charlottenburg and U-Bahn Wilmersdorfer Strasse. It's a small cafe with Russian home-cooking. In the summer, they have a few tables outside and limited seating (about 12-14) inside. Pelmeni is a cornerstone of the Russian culinary infrastructure in "Charlottengrad". It's food is authentic, delicious and affordable. If you have the good luck to get a table, start off with a Russian tea. Then pick a pirogi with either sauerkraut, potatoes or meat to get your appetite going. Continue with a cold borscht soup or request them to heat it up on a cooler day. Then go for a bowl of either pelmeni or wareniki, dumplings filled with cheese (quark), potatoes or beef. Alternatively, if you are not too hungry, pick khajapuri or savory blinis (blintz) with an order of red beet salad as a snack. For dessert, try the sweet curd cheese fritters or the napoleon pastry. The prices for the dishes are totally reasonable. We were a happy threesome, ate our fill and put Euros 25,- on the table. You skip Pelmeni at your own peril, and I don't even know why I share this insider tip with you.
Simple and spartan cafe, you will hear a lot of Russian spoken here. That vouches for the home cooked Bortsch , pelmenis and other russian specialities in this no frills cafe with very decent prices.
Just out from our hotel in kantstrasse berlin found this cosy cafe with very tasty eastern European soups and very good prices .proper coffee and cakes and friendly staff. Good food without the frills
