Gather - Berkeley

If you like a simple, restrained menu of cocktails, locally grown produce and wood oven pizza and grilled meats such as chicken, you'll love this place. That patio is particularly nice on warmer nights and the inside has a nice open feel. Service was attentive. A great place to gather for families or colleagues. Conveniently located in downtown Berkeley.

I used to rank Gather as a top choice place to dine but the experience last night was disappointing. My falafel burger was very dry as was the regular hamburger. The halibut was just OK. We did all enjoy the french fries.

The woman who sat us and our wait person were phenomenal! I wish I remembered their names, but kudos to them. The food was very good. The noise level was a little high, but we enjoyed the glee that a table of women friends seated next to us were experiencing. It just made it a bit harder to hear our table conversation. The whole concept of Gather is one I highly respect and support!

Food was unique , fresh seasonal ingredients and delicious! Service was impeccable and attentive with helpful descriptions of food choices. Parking on street and in nearby lot. Relaxed environment for ease of conversation. Outstanding!

Had to send the first drink back because it was pure sugar. Second drink was pink sparkling but it was not pink and was totally flat. The sauce on the panisse tasted scorched and needed salt. The corn soup was brown and didn’t taste like any vegetable we could identify. At this point, we canceled the rest of the meal and asked for the check. Service was ok. But if you want good vegetarian, Millennium is 13 mins away and was spectacular.
