Bidrage med feedbackA friend recommended this restaurant as a great stopping point during my recent trip from Michigan to Georgia. The inn itself is a beautiful old building with prices comparable to a Holiday Inn Express. The restaurant is elegant and the coffee bar in the lobby is a nice touch. The place is clean, comfortable, and has a charming old world charm. Located in a historic college town, I definitely plan on staying here again and doing some exploring of the area.
The dining area was exceptionally clean and cozy. The staff at the hotel showed some inconsistency. They were very attentive and friendly when the Manager was present, but their motivation seemed to decline in her absence. The cuisine was fantastic. I even had the chance to chat with the Chef, who graciously explained the ingredients in one of her sauces (bourbon sauce on salmon) and why they complemented each other so well. It was delightful to learn why the dish was so delicious. The Chef was approachable and amiable.
NOTE: The hotel itself is 5 stars, the restaurant is 3 stars at best. We booked the Romantic Package for $240 which includes a room for the night, dinner for 2 $75 , bottle of wine/sparkling cider, chocolates, and robes. The room was lovely and wellmaintained, The chocolates in the room were from a place called the Berea Fudge Shop and were absolutely fabulous! I wanted togo to the shop the next morning but it did not open till after we were leaving the area. The dinner was okay but not as goodas I remembered from my last visit. Granted, that was years ago but this was mediocre at best. The wait staff was exceptionalthough and really boosted the visit.
The room was a bit on the small side, but otherwise was a great one night stay for me and my husband plus cats. Very charming. Only complaint would be the amount withheld pending from the hotel after paying for our room (which was more than triple theamount the room cost) so be sure to be aware of that! So far part of the amount has been dropped as pending, still awaiting theremaining amount to be given back.
I absolutely loved staying at this historic hotel. It was extremely clean and well-maintained. The rooms may be small, but they are very comfortable. It had been a while since I stayed in a hotel that used an actual key, which added to the charm. I also appreciated learning about the history of the building. Although I arrived late and had some trouble checking in due to no one being at the front desk initially, once I got settled, I found the bed to be incredibly comfortable and the hotel to be quiet. I had a restful night's sleep. Checking out was simple, just drop the key off at the front desk. I would definitely stay here again, as my experience was very enjoyable.
