Ay, Carmela! - Benicàssim

Very friendly welcome from front of house. The chef or one of the chefs came to our table to discuss in English the menu and make recommendations. The food is excellent because it's thoughtful and beautifully cooked. I can't recommend this place enough. And totally spontaneously, as we left, our waitress gave us both a huge hug!

We enjoyed a truly memorable meal at this little restaurant. We almost hesitated to go in, as it just looked like an ordinary bar from the outside, but we were shown through to a charming, beautifully decorated restaurant at the rear, by an even more charming waitress, who was more than happy to try her excellent English out on us. The menu is all in Spanish but she very patiently translated each item and made suggestions to us. The food itself was of a very high standard and both the presentation and taste were excellent. We ended up repeating our order of the croquette and belly pork that we had ordered to start, as they were so delicious. The chef is obviously talented. For mains we had the octopus and a very lightly curried piece of cod, again perfectly cooked. To finish we had the carpaccio of pineapple and a deconstructed Tiramisu, which rounded the meal off in style. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone, but particularly if you are after something a bit more special in a very relaxed and friendly environment.

Fuimos a cenar el sábado y la experiencia fue muy positiva. La comida estaba muy rica. Las croquetas deliciosas y el resto de platos también. El personal fue muy amable y cercano. El ambiente muy tranquilo y el local muy bonito y cuidado. Repetiremos!
