We were greeted by the proprietor and servers upon entering. The interior decor was welcoming and beautifully furnished. The menu was not overwhelming, focused toward dishes that could be vegetarian and/or adorned with a selection of protein. The serving size was enough to feel satisfied and asking yourself should you have more? Every bite of our meal was delicious. The subtle flavors that provided undertones to the sauces were always there to finish the swallow and encourage the diner to have one more bite. Is that lemon zest? Is that a cardamom or quite possibly star anise? Questions that only a person could ask their partner at the table, our chef remained marvelous and aloof. Yuri our server was delightful, affable and fabulous. Thank you for being open on a Thursday, we had heard some local reviewer couldn 't stomach the view from your terrace, but the interior was perfect. Look forward to what comes next as the space develops and becomes the vision Ciao Popolo intends it to become. Vegetarian options: Each pasta entree starts as a base without meat/protein. These can be added for additional charges. Salads are also treated in same fashion Parking: Street parking with a 2hour limit. No parking meters
This restaurant is under new ownership from what one of the staff told me. They are difinately a friendly staff here. Deck on the river is nice. On the food front: we didn't eat much but I can review what I did try. The homeade bread is not italian at all and was not very good. The fettuccini alfredo was good, but the chicken parm was not good at all. Breading was soft and gross, chicken was thick, not pounded, the sauce is kind of bland, and the pasta over cooked. Wonder if they even make the chicken parm there or if it comes out of a frozen bag. Alfredo was good, lots of garlic which I like. While you can't expect much in a small Bellows Falls town they can do better. The experience was nice and sitting on the deck looking at the river and mountains is also very nice but you can do that with a picnic lunch of your own making at a nice park.
Such amazing people. Nice cocktail and Sunday menu. They really have something special and are building up to even more great things I think! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
