Modern Cafe - Belleville

Veggie fried rice tasteless. Chicken wings skinny and over fried...so very dry, and the raves about egg rolls is also not wanted. IT was mediocre at best. Sorry folks...but I do not recommend this place. I went for it based on the trip advisor reviews. Mistake.

While in Belleville for an event we decided to order in food for a group, the call was easy, and the large order was delivered when they had indicated it would, hot, and everything was great. Next time I find myself in Bellville I will certainly stop in.

My step-dad got me hooked on the modern for Chinese food as a kid, and it's still my go to. All of their food is always fresh and delicious, the staff are great, and the prices very reasonable.One of my favourites is the wonton soup. I'm actually not a big soup lover, but the dumplings are always so good in their soup that I can't get enough of it. Outside of that we usually get one of the "Dinner for X" with a variety of things so there's something for everyone, and if there's something we want subbed or added there's never any issues.

Take out order was prepared fast 15 minutes, but the quality of food was substandard. Specifically, the chicken was all dark meat while I prefer white, the bean sprouts seemed old, the sauces were thin and watery in the vegetables. The vegetables were also too plain for my taste. I could not find a website for this restaurant either making a phone in order difficult.

I've lived in Belleville for decades and never tried the Modern Cafe until just a few months ago. We ordered take out Chinese food for the whole family and were very impressed with food quality and pricing. Will be going back for sure.
