Hop Rye - Beaufort

Terrible! We went for Lunch during the Habersham Harvest Festival and the restaurant was not prepared for the amount of customers they would have during this festival. We were told when we sat that the kitchen wasn 't ready to make food, yet. We ordered drinks, when they came out in plastic cups we ordered our food awhile. Small Plastic Cup of draft beer for $5. Terrible Iced Tea, never asked if we needed sweeteners. Finally our waiter who was just filling in said the Chef was starting the grill. This was at approx. 1:00 PM. The kitchen should have been ready no later than 11:30 AM for the lunch crowd. About another 20 minutes later our waiter came to tell us they had no Seafood, the delivery was expected in about another 30 minutes or so. 2 of us ordered fish, we changed to a burger chicken fingers. Addt 'l. drinks took forever we still weren 't getting our food. We cancelled our Food order paid for drinks left. Owner/Manager made no consideration of serving customers. Nobody should wait over 1 hour not get food. Overcharging for Drinks Limited Menu for this occasion!

Extremely disappointed this time. My boyfriend and I came here before and really liked it but this time we came the whole menu was different, and the food mostly consisted of bar food. The atmosphere and service was still great but we will not be coming back to eat here because the food is now sub par.

I understand the poor ratings of about a year ago. I was also discouraged by the long waits and uneven quality of the food. But something has changed! First of all there is a new menu, after a year of the same entree offerings. Our family of 7 dined there two nights ago. We all ordered something different, and the kids asked for some items to be customized among items offered on the menu. They were gladly accommodated and even offered enhancements. They wait staff was very responsive! Food came out promptly and freshly cooked. Seven orders arrived together all well prepared. Something has changed and all for the better. Whatever changed, keep up the great work and we will be back to this cherished neighborhood pub.
