Bidrage med feedbackWe are saddened to hear that this restaurant is closing at the end of the month. We wanted to spread the word so that people can visit before it is gone for good. This Japanese restaurant serves incredibly fresh sashimi. The presentation of their sushi is stunning, you would never guess from the outside. We ordered the bamboo sashimi and the sushi chef intricately decorated the platter with trimmed leaves and flowers. Despite their impending closure, the quality of service and presentation remains top-notch. We had to take some of our food to go, and they packed it up beautifully, even including a mini ice pack. We have never experienced such care and attention before. We highly recommend you visit before it is too late.
The sushi at this restaurant is definitely worth the journey from Brooklyn! The fish is incredibly fresh and they frequently change their specials based on the morning's delivery. We have tried different types of uni and otoro multiple times and the freshness is evident in every bite. The service may be a bit slow due to the small staff, but it is well worth the wait. They are currently only open for dinner service, possibly due to COVID restrictions, so I always make sure to call ahead for a reservation. During the holidays, when they were fully booked, they were accommodating and tried to rearrange things to fit us in, which I truly appreciated. Additionally, they only accept cash, but they kindly remind you of this when you call to make a reservation.
My husband and I wanted to try this place for a long time and it didn't disappoint us. We ordered bamboo, special over rice, and chawanmusui. The fish were so fresh and the oyster that came with the special over rice was sooo good. The chef seasoned oysters with yuzi and it tasted amazing. We were the only table, which made me feel a bit relief during the pandemic. I especially like how the waiter was attentive to our needs, our teacups were never empty! We also took our toddler and an infant with us to dine in, and surprisingly (all the glory to God), they were pretty good most of the dining time. Thanks for having us, sasa song!
The sushi and omakase at this restaurant are very good, but the prices are extremely high! The omakase used to be $65 per person, but now it's over $300. This is seriously expensive, and they need to have a menu for customers since they don't have a website.
Cuisine: 8 Service: 7 Decor: 6 Value: 8 Overall: 7 Late post from pre-covid. Saw my photos and decided to write a quick review. This sushi restaurant is not the highest of quality you will find in Manhattan, but everything was definitely fresh. Just as important, the chef (Chinese) may not speak English well, nor Japanese, but he cares about his product. That's super important when he holds your gastrointestinal fate for the foreseeable future. On a rainy night with no other guests, I had quite a conversation with the chef and waiter. Took my time and ordered some of the best stuff he had. The sashimi platter consisted of Hotate (sea scallops), Botan Ebi (spot prawns), Ankimo (monk fish liver), Madai (red snapper), Saba (mackerel), and Ika (squid). I also ordered some Chutoro (medium fatty tuna) that came came separately. Nothing amazing, but overall everything was good. However, when the special Hokkaido Uni Ikura rice bowl arrived with the requested Snow Crab, it went from good to great. The ikura was a bit saltier than I like, but it paired well with the sweetness of the rice. I would have preferred the sushi rice to be a little warmer and not as sticky, but overall very enjoyable. Hard not to like with all that sweet creamy uni and snow crab meat to balance out the taste of ocean from the ikura. That dish alone made the night quite memorable.
