Nikko Japanese - Bayonne

Surprisingly enough, this place has the best sushi I've tasted in NJ yet. The selection is great, the quantity is even better. The venue is really odd on the inside because it looks like an American diner, and the staff are kinda just sitting around eating and doing their own thing. But the service is excellent and fast so I don't mind them do that at all.

The food was great, prices were very nice, but boy was it cold in there!!!! Dress in layers people! I was there for about 2 hours, complained about the cold. Nothing happened. Another customer complained about the cold and reiterated that my small child and I were also cold and then two employees just began speaking to eachother in their own language. There was some shifting of furniture and then as we were walking out I noticed two oscillating heating fans on the floor by the front (we sat closer to the back) No where near where my child and I were sitting. There was no explanation given to me about the heating situation nor did they offer to sit us closer to the heaters. I walked out kinda pissed off at that... but me and my daughter's tummies were really satisfied so I just ended up wishing they had been more considerate and accommodating. If the room temperature was pleasant I would have given it 5 stars. We ate and enjoyed the following: clear soup, green salad with ginger dressing, vegetable tempura, general Tso's Chicken dinner, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and hot green tea. Here's to hoping that the heating situation was a temporary fluke...

The restaurant needs a serious face-lift, but it is clean and the sushi, in particular the rolls have never disappointed us. Normally, we prefer to take it to go rather than eat at the restaurant.

We used to go there often. Always enjoyed sushi and sashimi. Nowadays Yi at ShopRite competes by its price and quality.

Fresh sushi at great prices. I love this place
