Simple Joe Cafe - Baton Rouge

We've been to this restaurant a few times now, and it's great. You have to know what you're getting though, so tame your expectations. This is more of a breakfast spot, less of a brunch spot. They've got eggs, bacon pancakes, and coffee. You orderat a counter and then go sit down and they bring you your food. No frills. But what they do, they do very well. Eggs are cookedperfectly, grits are salty and creamy, coffee is strong. The only issue is sometimes the wait is long, but that's not theirfault because they move people in and out quickly. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

OMG my experience was HORRIBLE !!! soo this was my first time trying this place so I ordered the French Toast Breakfast, according to the menu online it was suppose to come with three pieces of French toast and also powdered sugar on the top. Belowis what I received, it reminded me of a breakfast In the hospital. I never had French toast that was both soggy and dry andtasted like raw egg yolk, it?s nothing good I can say about this breakfast. I drove far to try this place it was a hugedisappointment and I don?t recommend. Attached is a photo of the breakfast huge DISGRACE!!

Delightful place! Wonderfil food, well thought-out menu selections, great service, upbeat ambiance, staffed by genuinely nice people! We had breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, and blueberry pancakes (with real blueberries! I can't imagine a better experience in a casual setting. whenever we're in BR, this will be our breakfast spot!!

I had the shrimp and grits with a single side of French toast, Which was delicious!! I couldn’t finish this all alone it was so filling. From the moment you enter you are greeted by a very nice looking man, and once you order you grab a table they’ll bring your plate to you after you order at register. I went on a Sunday and I went about 10am ,I think if I would’ve waited any longer then I for sure would’ve caught the rush. The place gets packed!! Understandingly. I will for sure go back Tuesday before I head back home. Update: Had to come a second time before heading back home and it was even better!!! Minus the skillets not working so no pancakes, but I was still satisfied. Why can't all the good restaurants be close to home

This was a real treat. Last minute decision to go here. One big reason was because they were open early. I’m a vegan and I was able to order a filling breakfast. My sis had the quinoa with fruit and homemade granola. She said the grits were nice and creamy like our grandfather’s. Owner was very pleasant and brought us our food. Food was reasonable priced. Definitely will return. Thanks!
