Bassendean Hotel

Our first time to go to the hotel and I love it's old and caricature. The food was delicious, service was excellent and we sat in a quiet area that was great.

This place is scandalous, a beautiful place filled with incompetent staff and exceptional prices. A round ordered at 9.55 a.m. (no mention that the bar was closed) they gave us our drinks then continued to follow us yo to ask us to leave us as they closed where. When we asked why they served us, they said that the bar was closed and we had to go?

Had a booking last night. ordered Guinness by Bar, barkeep cast, let it sit and forget it and went on break. No one available to tell us where our table was, after all we were brought to a table where previous patronage food and dishes were all over the table. Many people angry at bars and tables that make complaints. Employees less than apologetic, inexperienced robots left wolves through higher management. Apparently lack of training, lack of competent staff. Never try Bassendean Hotel again and will encourage all my friends, not if they suggest it. We went to Beaufort and had an extraordinary evening as usual!

We thought we were treating ourselves for lunch today and were very happy that we were. We had read about the renovation of the Bassendean Hotel in our local community news in Morley and decided that it was worth a look. We were warmly welcomed, had answered our questions knowledgeably and our order was quickly accepted. The outside seat is clean, covered and as it was hot, fog sprays kept it cool. There is a small playground for children and a sign that says "Doggies" are welcome. Our meals were delivered by another smiling employee and made a comment that we need a box to take links. We did as meals were generous for a few elderly people. If we were still in the habit of having “a local” it would be Bassendean Hotel. Go.

The night didn't start well, when we had to move tables because our allocated table was completely wet due to the mist sprayers. Then the table we moved to was sticky and had BBQ sauce marks on a number of sections of it. A staff member did clean this up eventually. On the staff. It seemed very haphazard all night, people forgetting cutlery, basic clearing of tables, etc not done. Starters were good, halloumi and squid. Mains were just ok, for $29.00 the size of the gnocchi serving was underwhelming. The biggest complaint was for the prawn roll, that barely contained any prawns, and was served with two types of chips (crisps and hot), with not much in the way of salad... After all this, we will not recommend and will not be back in a hurry.
