Bidrage med feedbackI went here for lunch on business with a friend. We were limited on time, and it was noted by the owner. The soup was fresh and hot, the fresh fish of the day was plentiful and tasty. The restaurant is very clean, and was very busy.
Wentworth’s Eatery is located in the Victoria Village complex of retirement community and life lease apartments. External appearance of the eatery is attractive, in-line with the overall upscale Victoria Village setting. I have walked past many times doing my “morning constitutional” when visiting in-laws in Barrie. One day last week the weather was damp and dreary… which I used as self-justification to drop in for a break in my mid-morning trek. Internal ambiance was inviting; basically upscale dinerish… high quality pictures on walls painted in warm earthy tones, marble topped service counter, wood-toned tables and chairs. The menu was less extensive than in most diners, but probably well suited for the target customer base resident in the Victoria Village complex. Breakfast is served until 2:00 pm… three or four egg, toast and home fries options, with/without meat; plain cheese omelette with toast and home fries.. and optional add-in mushrooms, green peppers, ham; optional sides including sausages and/or bacon; pancakes, muffins, bagel; Saturday and Sunday only… Eggs Benedict and home fries $10.49Lunch is served 10:00 am till closing…. soup of the day, choice of 5 salads, a couple of open face sandwich melts, a wrap, a reasonably extensive choice of sandwiches; hot entrees include steak and mushroom pie, chicken pot pie, and daily specials (e.g. Saturday - liver and onions.) Prices are reasonable. I ordered the steak and mushroom pie which came with coleslaw… $10.25 Very good flaky crust, lots of braised beef, onions, mushrooms; overall very tasty and just the thing for a dreary damp day. Service was friendly. Not LLBO licensed. For those driving… parking lot is metered parking.Bottom line… not a “destination” restaurant by any means, but probably an above average local eatery for Victoria Village residents who have limited ability to travel... and a Good place to stop in for a bite if walking by.
I randomly stopped by this restaurant for coffee the other day when I saw it while passing by. The owner was in the midst of cleaning tables after the morning rush, but still greeted us as we entered and invited us to sit down. Although we originally just wanted coffee, the delicious looking sweets caught our eye so we ended up indulging. We had a nice chat with the owner and learned that they also own Scarpaccio's at the Monte Carlo Inn. They offer catering services, including "home catering" for small dinner parties. As I write this, they are even preparing a menu for me. Overall, the owner has a great attitude and the food is pretty good too.
I am staying in Barrie for the night and decided to dine close by for supper tonight.
This was the worst dining experience we have ever had at a restaurant.
