Bidrage med feedbackAfter being regular customers for at least the past 10 years, tonight's visit will definitely be our last. While the food has always been excellent (in fact, the best Indian food in Barnsley), the restaurant and service have gradually declined. Tonight, we found the restaurant to be freezing, heated by only one small heater. Despite being the only customers in the restaurant, the service was incredibly slow - we waited over 45 minutes for our main course after our poppadoms, while takeaway customers were served before us. The waitress seemed more interested in her phone than in providing good customer service. After complaining, we finally received our meal without even an apology, and had to ask for the bill. As we were leaving, we were informed abruptly that the restaurant would be closing the next week. It's no surprise, as with proper management, this restaurant could be a success. Despite our 10 years of loyal patronage, tonight's experience was the last straw. We will take our business to other Indian restaurants in Barnsley that appreciate our loyalty. It seems that loyalty means nothing here.
First time visit. We were in the area. Thought we'd give it a try. The service from the two girls on the bar/waiting area was very efficient and polite in every exchange we had with them during our visit. We also had a few exchanges with the gentleman who appeared to be the boss again, very friendly, made effort to interact with us and collectively the customer service was very good. The restaurant was not busy, so I was able to see other customers receiving the same good service. Timing wise, the food arrived within good time, not too quick or slow by any means. The quality of the food unfortunately does not reach this high standard. The tikka products were of the bright red variety. The common ingredients combined for tikka food, (whilst many are red and orange in colour), do not give you a bright red end product. Certainly, they're not the only restaurant to use this food colouring approach to help the tikka theme along, but it does make me nervous that this appearance strategy is to make up for flavour. This unfortunately proved to be the case across the tikka food. For example, the lamb tikka, bright read in colour, moist and mouth watering to look at, was very bland tasting. The same for the chicken and prawns too. These quality of food short cuts spread across other products too, for example the quality of meat was itself poor, there wasn’t much of it and the saag was lacking in its key ingredient. The pilau rice was rice with some of the grains multicoloured by food colouring not a disaster, but appearance needs backing up with flavour. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, i doubt this is through choice, but it could be enforced by those with the power and not the fault of the establishment. But not serving alcohol is to the detriment of the customer and the establishment’s bottom line. That said, we were informed that every drink is charged at £2.95, so no doubt £2.95 for a small dilute orange cordial goes some way to helping fix that issue (as we found out). Six quid for a pint of dilute orange!!! I appreciate folk need to earn a living, and this is an industry exposed to high financial risk, but that is a tasty mark up! Cost price has got to be about 7 or 8 pence. You can take alcohol in with you though, which is good; the kids are on lager next time. The pickle tray was the best pickle tray i have had anywhere in the UK, around 10 pickles, all different. So, in summary just the food and cordial prices that let this restaurant down. I'd definitely be back if the first of these 2 things improve.
Booked in for 7:00 Christmas Eve, orders eventually taken at 7:45 after I went and asked the three waitresses who were stood chatting if they would take em, at 8:30 we decided to leave without food....don’t get this restaurant confused with what it was before....it isn’t. It wasn’t even that busy, god help em with a full house....
We were two couples and booked in for 6 o’clock on a Sunday night, not overly busy at this time just a table with about a dozen adults and kids. The poppadums came pretty quickly then everything went downhill from there. Starters were a long time and the mains even longer, our mains were brought out at 8.30. By this time others in the restaurant were not very happy. At no time did any work of the staff apologise for the tardy service, they’re all attitude was abysmal. Two of the mains were awful, I had a prawn dish which had 3 prawns and a pile of onions nothing else just runny sauce, my partner had 3 miserly pieces of lamb in his dish and the Rosti was fatty and undercooked. I would have complained but we were taken there as a treat so I didn’t want to upset them, the other couple enjoyed theirs and eat there regularly but we won’t be going again. I think because it was through groupon the meal was substandard. We left the place at 9 three hours for a meal is ridiculous.
Rubbish tasteless food and the one girl working was clearly too busy to be able to deliver a good service.. Or maybe she was just un interested. Took her 20 minutes before we even ordered any food, she did apologise but by this Time I was already annoyed. Ordered food. We Didn't get what we ordered, ww asked for keema naan but got garlic naan, asked for pilau rice got normal rice, hardly any chicken in the currys. Couldn't even be bothered complaining at this point because we had waited so long and we had a 9 year old child with us it was getting close to her bed time so complaining would have just added time on. Was 2 for 1 on meerkat meals and was still 45 quid for 2 adults one child. Overpriced rubbish food feel like we've just been robbed.. Definitely won't be returning.. Its clearly on meerkat meals and group on to try and attract some custom. Shame as the place was quite nice inside but that was another issue it was freezing in the restaurant.. Had to sit with my coat on half the time! Oh and we asked for our left over curry to be put in a tray, she looked like we had asked her to bring the coal in.. She then started serving other people. We sat waiting for 5mins after we had paid the bill and then decided to just go. On leaving she was sat behind the bar doing nothing.. Clearly she doesn't want to be there. Manager. Do something about it before your restaurant flops!
