The General's Grill

The owner provided excellent service, the food was delicious and we didn't have to wait long. We ordered the mixed grill platter and it was definitely worth it. The staff was very conscientious and the price matched the quality of the food. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food is amazeballs!!!!! The bread and yoghurt dip keep us spending afternoons there and the awesome craft beer selection.

The General is a lovely restaurant located in a quiet area of Essex. I stumbled upon it while on a business trip and now make it a point to visit every time I am in the area. They serve delicious Doner Kebab on a wooden plate with flavorful chicken and rice, topped off with freshly chopped lemon and onions. I always pair my meal with a refreshing glass of orange juice with ice. The food is simple yet presented with elegance. The manager is friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. I have already suggested The General to a few friends - it's definitely worth a visit.

I recently dined at The Generals Shish with a friend on Sunday 09/07/23 and it was a fantastic experience! The restaurant was exceptionally clean and the owner, known as 'the General', was incredibly friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and assisting me in selecting dishes. The food was absolutely delicious - the Lahmacun reminded me of my trips to Turkey and the Beity chicken was flavorful. Not only was the food outstanding, but it was also very reasonably priced (much cheaper than similar restaurants in Ipswich). I highly recommend visiting this place as you will be pleasantly surprised by the welcoming hosts, great food, and affordable prices. Thank you for a truly enjoyable dining experience. Karen.

On 22nd June 2023 students and staff from Horizons department of Barking Dagenham College had a first class lunch at the Generals Shish. We had a Chicken and Lamb Platter, and the Generals own special platter. The food was wonderful, full of flavour fantastic, enjoyed by all. The General and his men looked after us all and threw in some chips for free. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts we will be back!
