Mariona - Barcelona

Needed the toilet so stopped off to buy a drink so didnt seem rude, when passing the inside there was mould up the side of the kitchen. Dirty and the hot held food looked horrible. The corridor to the toilet was unlit, whole building poor maintained. The family who run it were more interested in the clothes they jsut bought that serving us. This place should not be allowed to serve food.

Not far from the Arc de Triumf , this is in the Chinese area. A little cafe, not much to look at but with friendly helpful hosts. A mix of cuisine but we had tapas. Huge portions, they are not little plates and they just kept coming. We only spent 52 euro including drinks for 4 adults two teenage girls aged 16, 18) and had more food than we needed. Probably could have done it for 40-45 euro. Food was great , especially the calamari, peppers and queso. Search it out.

Recently, with the demonstrations in Barcelona, many restaurants and cafes are closing early or not even opening. Sad but true. The Mariona was open and I ate and drank there several times. Sidewalk tables plus inside table, I enjoyed looking at the old musical instruments on the walls, I had a pizza here, not the best I ever ate, but I enjoyed it and left only crumbs. It may not be the highlight meal of your trip, but it worked for me.
