Bidrage med feedbackWe stopped at La Pace for lunch whilst on a tour of the island by boat. Our skipper promised us a traditional style of dining and that 's what we got. Accessible only by sea, a small dinghy picks you up from your boat and shuttles you to a small jetty. The welcome is warm, English patchy (but who cares) and menu is simple but traditional. We ate too much bruschetta, calamari, salad, pasta and also the local speciality of peaches in white wine . Amazing dining with views out to the sea, and watching other boats arrive. Experience completed by beating serenaded by a man and guitar. Food prepared by traditional mamas and is delicious, if not necessarily first class presentation. Who cares! If that 's what you want, you are in the wrong place. Just enjoy a great atmosphere and some yummy food.
My family has been traveling to Italy for many years from Australia this place would be one of the worst restaurants we have had the misfortune to go to. Location is spectacular but that is the only positive they took over an hour to even serve us, did their best to ignore our request to be served, forgot our food even once we did get to order and served everyone else around us it seemed because we were not Italian there was a total lack of interest in serving non Italians?! Such a shame it could be amazing.
We rented a boat for the day and this restaurant was recommended as only being accessible by boat. We were surprised by some of the previous negative reviews....this place is idyllic, very special. The food offering is simple but tasty and well prepared, the wine was delivered in a reused mineral water bottle which added to the charm and the service was friendly and efficient. It has a great atmosphere and an isolated feel...we were reluctant to have to leave. I would recommend a visit.
I am living now 2 years in Italy, but this restaurant was the worst I have ever seen in the whole Naples area! I am sure that all visible positive comments are from friends or from the owner himself! First waiting 15 minutes, then you cannot order all from the small menu card, we ordered spaghetti vongole, pasta al forno, octopus salad, salade caprese, water, beer...all should not be a problem for an Italian restaurant! -The coperto was 5 Euro per person (even for a 5 year old girl . -The octopus salad was small like a beermat and tasted like a bubblegum (12 Euro -The pasta al forno was a little bigger than a beermat, one layer, nearly no cheese, for sure not out of the oven, a portion for a 3 year old child (10 Euro -The water with or without gas was ok, but expensive (4 Euro each -The Salade Caprese with small mozzarella cubes on 5 tomatoe slides (10 Euro! -The spaghetti vongole was more or less ok, also small portion. (10 Euro -The plain spaghetti for the girl (without sauce were more than all dente , hard. After we have eaten the last bite the waitress came immediately and asked us to leave the table for other (at this time non visible guests. We paid for 4 adults and a small girl 122 Euro, and left the restaurant disappointed and still hungry. Typical tourist trap. They will see us never again!
I can’t praise this restaurant enough. I have been coming here every year since 1979 and have witnessed 3 generations run this amazing gem of paradise. Don’t listen to the reviews by Italians who figure they can make this food at home and don’t want to pay a slight premium for It there. First, let me explain the restaurant. It can only be accessed by boat and the family that runs It, moves into the caves they carved out of the cliff for the season. They spend the summer farming fresh tomatoes, vegetables, herbs and raising chickens and rabbits and fishing fresh fish...all to be served for your meal. You will need a reservation for a large group and i will suggest passing early by boat to give your order if you want chicken or rabbit, as they need time to prepare It, as It is farm to table in the most organic form. The menu is limited, but mainly because the macrobiotic nature is limited to what they raise and grow. They buy only beverages, bread, pasta and some local shellfish. You dine al fresco with an amazing view of the sea at farm tables (you can wear your swimsuits). As this is a local family, their english is limited, but they manage. The daughter takes the orders and the mom and her aunt cook up the goodness. On some days, a local guitarist entertains everyone with Neapolitan folk songs, too. After lunch, take a nap on the free sun beds and wake up later for coffee for your ride home. (We always rent our own boat so we are not pressured to come or go). I recommend the rabbit, which when ordered, should feed about 4 adults family-style. Ask to walk thru the farm area and tell them Silvana sent you. I never come to Italy and don’t make the trip there and sometimes eat there every few days or so. So if you are there, do not miss It!!
