Bidrage med feedbackThis is another restaurant that was recommended to us to eat in Bansko, besides the tavern Tortilla mentioned in 1792. It is a very cozy place with a mountain tavern atmosphere, featuring stone floors and decorations that emphasize the Bansko region and the Pirin Massif. Despite the fact that there were not many people dining when we visited, we enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing evening in typical Bulgarian fashion. As for the food, we tried the potatoes with cheese, which were delicious, as well as a vegetable risotto that was decent. However, we encountered some uncertainty when ordering a dish with deer meat, as neither the waiter nor I were familiar with the specific spice used. The dish turned out to be too heavy on ginger, making it difficult to finish. It was a reminder of the risks of ordering blindly without knowing what to expect. While we may have preferred the food at the tavern Tortilla, we greatly enjoyed the atmosphere of this quiet tavern located at the entrance of the village. The interior dining room below the main tavern was a cozy spot where locals gathered to socialize, rather than solely focusing on Bulgarian cuisine. The impressive wine selection, especially red wines, was a highlight of the evening. Additionally, a folklore group in traditional mountain costumes entertained us with songs from the region, adding to the unique experience. Overall, despite the mishap with the deer dish, we appreciated the charm of this mountain tavern and look forward to returning to try another item from the menu.
Overall, we preferred the atmosphere of this tavern over Taberna Molerite 1792, perhaps because it is located at the entrance of the village, away from the bustling center. We dined in the inner dining room, which was quieter than the main tavern area where people gathered to socialize rather than focus on the Bulgarian cuisine. The restaurant also impressed us with its extensive wine selection, especially the red wines. The highlight of the evening was the performance by a folkloric group dressed in traditional mountain costumes, singing songs from the region, possibly of Macedonian origin. Their performance was captivating, and we were delighted when they performed at our table, serenading us with a beautiful song. We applaud their performance and will always remember this charming mountain tavern. Although I may not order the deer dish again, I look forward to returning and trying another dish from the menu.
