Brick's River Cafe - BANDERA

Good hometown American food. My wife ordered chicken fried steak with a cabbage that was very tasty. I ordered a Dr Pfeffer Grill Burger and the Dr Pfeffer Grillsauce was amazing. They sell a full bar and beer they have no signature drinks. You can walk behind the restaurant a way down into an open field directly on the river.

The first time. The service is great. The food is delicious. You have a beef-denderloin buffet on Friday night. They offered a free taste and it was juicy. We always come back.

My server was attentive and friendly. I didn't wait long to be served. Food and lemonade didn't take long. I loved the lemonade. It was a great balance of tartness and sweetness and tasted real in contrast to drinking the wells, prepacked, or powder mix options that are common. The Texas crushed potatoes were good, and I also liked the meat. The chips and queso were excellent. This is a great place to eat after a hike in one of the state parks that are beyond Bandera. There is a beautiful river behind the restaurant with limited outdoor seating.

Our visit is a story of 2 experiences. Our first 20 minutes were a clear 0 star. Nice afternoon to sit on the deck overlooking the canyon and the river. We were on the deck with 3 other tables waiting, but two waiters completely ignored my family and I, as we are patiently waited, recognized and maintained. Never happened. Even if the males were left at the three tables, we sat alone on the deck and no one came out again. I say it was 20 minutes, my spouse says 30 that we waited patiently. I went in and talked to Daniel, the first waiter I saw to order drinks. Daniel was great and saved our day. A terrible experience made to a satisfactory one. From then on he took care of us and gave us the attention and courtesy someone would expect in a restaurant. The food was delicious and also a savior who was the reason we went to Brick's first place. Home cooked fried chicken and chicken fried steak were moist and tasteful. Potatoes are a must try! Fried pickles and their Jalapeño ranch are a great appetizer. The children had grilled cheese and chicken ornaments that they disappeared. In Brick's defense they are short on waiting staff and are overwhelmed. However, a simple recognition of the waiting staff would have been sufficient. A patiently waiting family of 4 is never acceptable. The manager spoke to us and apologized for the service we appreciate. I would come back because Daniel was brilliant and the food was delicious.

Country cooking with a view. The food was delicious and although I ordered the half order of chicken fried chicken, it was a very generous portion. My husband ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and it was huge. Loved the view from the enclosed patio!! Christine our waitress was very sweet.. We will be back.
