Bidrage med feedbackVery good food and service with a little bit extra, good place to take families (wee a few there on the night)
I didn't know what to expect, what on earth do Germans eat, other than sausage? Husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and its on Valentines Day which means packed restaurants, so we go on a Monday mostly. When we arrived, I was impressed...at the size of the place and the padded seats. They also have a few booth type seating options. Husband chose Kransky Wiener which came with Sauerkraut and chips. Neither of us had tried sauerkraut and were both pleasantly surprised. I'm not a fan of sausage so opted just to try his chips and they were very tasty! Husband enjoyed his meal. He ordered a cider and as they didn't have any sweet ones they added mango juice and it was a refreshing drink. For myself I ordered the Garlic Prawn pasta and ate it all. The only change I'd request is less bacon and chorizo for my personal taste. I had a cocktail and opted for Old Fashioned which was quite strong but tasty. We'll be back again. They had lamb shanks on the menu that looked yummy and is a favourite of mine.
This place was amazing. I came on relatively early on a Friday night as a walk-in, and could get a table fine, even though the place was quite busy. I'm a huge fan of meat, and the menu had lots of German-style options that immediately...had appeal to me. I opted for the pork belly and bratwurst which came with mash, gravy, and sauerkraut. Absolutely delicious! I even had room afterwards for some Black Forest cake given that it's typically associated with German it felt a little undersized and over-priced, but was well-presented and tasted great. Service was quite manner-of-fact, but no complaints from me there. In view of the great range of food options, I hope I'll get opportunity to come back some time.
Not greeted at the door just asked if we were the table if that had booked. Staff had absolutely no front of house training. Dumped side plates at the end of the table while touching the eating end of the knives and forks...with bare hands. Pork belly was inedible, tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave with uncooked crackling. Sauerkraut was also inedible. Was told that was how they served their pork belly. Staff were unhelpful and unwilling to do more than a discount. Told me I had eaten half the meal when I had mearly tasted everything and was unable to eat any more. The blond male that rang up the bill was rude abrasive and showed a serious lack of any customer service skills. Very disappointed and will never return.
Wanted Lamb Shanks but wifey talked me into the Steak was weary about price, treat yourself she said..........ordered medium rare, it came out medium to well, also curled up full of gristle, must say the garlic sauce that smothered my chips as well...was tasty but that’s where it ends, my wife’s schnitzel was dry, bland thinner than any schnitzels shes eaten, how can a Chef send out food like that.....we were put off years ago hadn’t been back since, it will be definitely along time until we think of revisiting again, shame as it’s walking distance to home.
