Bidrage med feedbackGubbio is a beautiful place to visit and a trip up the the mountain by tram is a must. I was there with my family after visiting the ancient Roman Theater everyone was hungry and so we ducked into the closest spot. What a blessing! First, the proprietor was kind in accommodating vegetarian pasta options for my kids. Aromatic truffle and hand made tagliatelle and hand made gnocchi with cheese, as soft as clouds. I am a wine educator and my partner a winemaker but we often try a carafe of house wine if we can confirm that it is made very locally by a small producer. For 7euro we had a litre if the most delicious wine made from Sangiovese! Its pleasures were pure and simple but it developed over the meal and paired absolutely perfectly! Wow! The one thing was we waited a while for our grilled meats…however once it arrived, we thought we were going to cry it was so good!!! I loved the olive oils on the table so much I asked about it after the meal (I also spend a good deal of time comparing olive oils). Turns out the proprietor behind the bar makes the oil, and gave me a bottle, then took me back to the open fire oven and introduced me to his father, who was grilling the meat himself! He embraced us when we thanked him for the exquisite perfection of his cooking! Slow service…a bit, we aren’t in A Michelin restaurant in Rome, but if I received that play in a Michelin restaurant, and paid 5x as much I wouldn’t have thought it unreasonable! Best of all though, these beautiful people are farming, making, cooking and serving, with pride, and pleasure…so I can wait in between courses and drink my liter of delicious 7euro wine! Haha! Best unexpected experience of the year hands down!
This place was overpriced, dirty and fly infested. We went on the recommendation of Rick Steves. (Ooyy) I think the owners are riding ONLY on that fame. We got bruschetta served in plastic dishes and were not given a written bill but rather told how much our bill was. I questioned the amount and they were perturbed but could NOT account for the outrageous total we were given. They did adjust the bill but we could not only not recommend this fly infested tourist trap but wanted to warn others to save their money !!
As recommended in Rick Steve’s guide book, we stopped for bruschetta, beer and wine. The bruschetta was a disappointment. Dry bread with a chunk of cheese topped with a teaspoon of jam. With all the bruschetta we ordered the same, the cost was ridiculous. Plastic plates, plastic cutlery, and fake pointsettia plants on the table does not fit with the historic olive press. They take advantage of the recommendation in Rick Steve’s book. Just check out the olive press and skip the bruschetta.
Accogliente, cordiale, servizio veloce, giusto rapporto qualità prezzo, interno affascinante da visitare
