Ocean Grill - Avila Beach

We stopped for dinner on Fathers Day on our way back to SF from LA. The food was outstanding; my wife said the Caesar salad was one of the best she’d ever had. I had salmon ceviche with homemade tortilla chips, which was delicious. The biggest surprise for me was the clam chowder. It’s one of those dishes that I’ll try almost anywhere because for the last 40 years, I’ve been on a quest to find the best. I would rank Ocean Grill’s among the top five I’ve ever had. Thick with tons of clams and a really rich clam flavor. Some of the potato chunks were quite large, but there probably was three times as many clams as potatoes, so I’m calling this more of an observation than a complaint. Worth every bit of the $9 price; it was all I could do to not lick out the bowl. I think dinner for the three of us was less than $50, which is a great deal for the California Coast. We drive between SF and LA three or four times a year, and we will most definitely stop by again in the future.

Wonderful service. The waiter Luke was wonderful with my son Luke! The food is the BEST! We had 3 different flat-breads, clam chowder and calamari. Such a great view and of the beach. I will be back!

We've eaten at the Ocean Grill in Avila Beach several times and have enjoyed every meal. The Thai shrimp cup is my favorite. It's a nice way to spend a leisurely day on a weekend and kick back and chill!

Throughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Ocean Grill last evening. We were accompanied by our 2 Standard Poodles and were intending on ordering food to go however, they had a table set right outside and welcomed us to join the for dinner. Kudus to the management for hiring such professional and friendly staffers! The hostesses and our waitress were so friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience ! PS ... their beet, strawberry, arugala and goat cheese salad was sublime This is definitely a must try restaurant when you are in Avila !
