Bidrage med feedbackBest authentic and fresh food. Shogun is a quiet family owned restaurant, older and respected where you come in and are greeted by owners and family. Dont' expect flashiness or club beats. I have been going here since I moved to Austin in 2007. I come from a Japanese family and nowhere in Austin have I felt so at home. The sushi is fresh, there is some new fusion innovation with the rolls and the entrees are great. The staff has been attentive, consistent and since I have been going there they recognize you and what you generally order. For the price and the quality and the realization that you are a valued customer go there.
Shogun has the best sushi around. Their lunch specials are very reasonable and always fresh.
Cute, Classic.. If you are looking for a trendy, techno, modern place to have sushi, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!This place is a very small, casual, quiet, family owned, and traditional place. It has real traditional Japanese food! Which is delicious!! I've had almost everything on the menu. My main favs(i pretty much like everything are the Yakisoba (stirfried noodles , Udon (thick noodle soup , Katsu, Gyoza, and Teppan Tofu. You have to know what to order otherwise sometimes it gets pricey. There is an awesome Japanese room, with 3 tables, in the back where you must take off your shoes and sit on the floor. Its nice and private. The sushi is nice, simple, and fresh. The sushi chef, Christina, is the sweetest woman you will meet. She is the owner and makes most of the sauces and soup broths. Sometimes her husband is there working too! so cute~ ! husband and wife. They can recommend nice rolls. and the Spicy mayo there is the best I've had! Its thick and creamy, not like other places(cough Umi cough I love little shogun!
I’m a fan ! Intimate setting with music on the low . Ambiance is quiet and relaxing. Our server was very attentive and explained dishes well. We ordered volcano sushi and noodles . We underestimated how fulfilling sushi will be. Lots of people we saw these seemed to be sharing one dish which we also should’ve done but the yummy descriptions and hunger got us. No regrets though as the noodles were just as delicious with a dash of spicy . I appreciate that the owner personally came out and went from table to table asking if we liked everything: . We will definitely be going back.
It's some of the best sushi I've had in a while. They were big rolls and super tasty. A bit pricey but the size of the rolls almost made it worth it. Will definitely be heading back and may be my go to from now on.
