First timer in Austin. Went out and about on 6th street and wanted some late night snacks. I’m vegan, so the popular pizza places were out and I stumbled upon Llamas! OMG amazing!! The fried plantains were to die for! Definitely make at least 2 more stops here before I leave.
We had Llama's Peruvian Food truck cater our wedding. My wife is Peruvian, I am not. She said that this is the best she's had in Austin, and we tried them all. They served the food from the truck but had it sizzling in an open fire wok off to the side which made it pretty cool to watch. They really worked hard that night and were very nice to everyone. The food was great and was devoured. Both meat and vegetarian options for all. They allowed us for taste testing before the wedding and worked with us on the amount of dishes, servings, serving sizes, etc. everything went to plan. No leftovers!
Llama's offers flavors your tastebuds will know but are not typically hit with. Every dish is packed with flavor and they have several vegetarian/vegan options. The thing I love about this truck is its consistency I've eaten here many times, switch choices regularly and always have a great experience. It's a bit pricey at ~10/meal but the flavor, portion size and quality validate it. One note nearby Chicago House has recently started serving food and Llama's can no longer deliver there so you have to eat on location or while walking. They have seating for ~10 by the truck.
Very tasty Peruvian food, one of the better Peruvian places I've been. The presence of flavor in the food here is definitely a thing, and makes the dishes taste a lot more unique than at other places. The price is a tad bit high for the amount of food served, but I enjoyed every bite of my meal and would definitely return.
