Bidrage med feedbackMy first time I'm trying to eat Filipino! I've got the Pancit-Bhin. the court consists of vermicelli nudeln and sweet carrots, red pfeffer, snowblows, cauliflower with a spicy soy sauce. they can choose the level of the seasoned between 1 3 and I thought level 2 was a manageable amount, while still in amounts of taste. if you want a noodle dish, pancit bihon is a solid option. my partner got the bark carousel, this is a beef stew with aubergine, stroke beans and babybok choy in a peanut sauce. it's like a philippine curry. it comes with a side of reis or nudel. it is also served with a side of bagoong fermented fish garnelen paste. the bark was very soft, but we both preferred the taste of the pancite. the kare kare and especially the bagoong are an acquired taste.
Came for dinner during the week while visiting Austin for a show. It was shortly after opening, so there were only a few guests, but it quickly became over half full within 30 minutes. As soon as we walked in, all the employees happily greeted us and had us seated. Everyone was very happy, friendly, and very helpful, especially Jasper. One side of the menu is Filipino food while the other side is Chinese food, but only saw people ordering the Filipino food. There's also a specials board that has items not listed on the daily menu. While I was looking over the menu, started off with their Peach Mango lemonade and an order of 6 Lumpiang Shanghai Lumpia . Drink arrived within a minute and the Lumpia arrived within 10 minutes straight out the frying pan. For the meals, ordered family style, so ordered the Half Crispy Chicken, Sizzling Pork Sisig, and the Palabok from the specials board. Everything arrived together within 10 15 minutes. Having recently visited the Philippines, this was the real deal. Every detail from the Crispy Chicken with banana ketchup, to the Sisig with the egg, and to the Palabok with Chicaron was perfect.Presentation was perfect and it tasted equally as delicious. For my favorite, it's a close tie between the Palabok and the Sisig. The portions were perfect for sharing. To closeout the meal, ordered the Halo Halo and the Buko Pandan. Similar to the meals, both of these were very authentic and very good. The Halo Halo is made with their homemade ice cream and had too many ingredients to list and each bite was a surprise flavor. The Buko Pandan was full of young coconut and jelly cubes. On my next trip to Austin, will definitely come back to Kapatad for both the service and the food.
Not too many choices in Austin for Filipino food, but if I have a craving for sit down Filipino food, and we're not in LA, this is the place. Clean, family run restaurant that hits it out the park every time. Definitely my go to when I want something close to a home cooked Filipino meal. I delayed wanting to post a review as I wanted to keep this little gem to ourselves, but after celebrating my Father's Day lunch, maybe it's time to share!
Wow, amazing, clean, delicious Filipino food. We will be back again and again and again. AND the halo halo is the BEST. Everything is made in restaurant…they make their own ube ice cream. I honestly can just eat a gallon of that by itself. If you haven’t tried this place, go now. Sinigang, calamari, and halo halo were our faves. And if you have friends who aren’t adventurous eaters…they also have comforting familiar Chinese dishes on the menu!
Y'ALL discovering Kapatad was one of the best things to happen to me in 2022. I've been hoping for a new Filipino spot especially after Be More Pacific closed down , and oh mama, we've been blessed! Family owned, this spot offers attentive customer service and engagement from the owners and staff. They really want to make sure you feel confident in your order and enjoy your meal, and enjoy we did! The order of shanghai lumpia 6 pc was actually FULL lumpia rolls, not cut up halves. The outer shells were fried to golden perfection and sounded like a crispy symphony with each bite. The meat was juicy and flavorful. Next, we ordered the pancit and lichon to split comes with white rice or fried rice and were so pleased! The food is well priced and boasts the perfect portions finally a place that feeds you right! . The pancit had a nice smoky flavor not artificial at all, tasted just right! The lichon was so deliciously crisp that the fat melted in your mouth with each bite. No chunks of inedible fat to be found, this pork was treated RIGHT! Finally, Halo Halo to cool us down. The owner told us that all of the ingredients were made in house. Let me tell ya...ordering that Halo Halo was a mistake, because now I'm wanting to eat one every day of the week! Definitely will be back! 5 5 :
