Eddie V's Prime Seafood - Austin

Eddie V's never disappoints. Tonight we ate in the Bar, which is such a fun atmosphere. The food is as good as in the main restaurant. Loved the steak tartare, crab cakes, and wonderful desserts. Service is as good as the food.

As usual, we had a great dining experience! Our server, Thomas, was very attentive and well informed about the dishes! Drinks, bread , and butter were enjoyed as we decided on our food choices. The lobster bisque was yummy, as was the Caesar Salad! The halibut special was awesome...the avacado crabmeat topping was a perfect compliment! Our Banana Foster dessert was pretty and delicious! Eddie V's is one of our favorite places to dine when in Austin or San Antonio! Always great!

I tried Eddie V's downtown again after a couple years. Same experience. The waitstaff is schmoozy, not sophisticated, so it's awkward to be served by them. Partner's fish was so overcooked that she sent it back. The 2nd one was perfect but ordinary in taste. I did not want to have to have 2 entrees redone so I did not return my steak that was cooked to medium rather than to the requested medium rare. It is so hard to get a steak cooked right! The lump crab was dry. The dessert was subpar but comped because of the overcooked fish entree: Unexpected but accepted. The salad was very good; the cocktail medium shrimp were cold and dry so I think they'd been in the refrig for too long. We were greeted in a perfunctory manner when entering but the bar music sounded good. No wait. The water and bread showed up quickly. The waiter was cognizant to not bring courses too quickly which I very much appreciated. He was pleasant but, again, not in a sophisticated quiet manner. This was not an expensive meal compared to many restaurants. There was something like a chain restaurant feel to the whole evening. The entrees were fairly priced if prepared well but they were not. We will not be returning. Without cocktails or wine, we left at $100 a head including tip.

Food was very uneven tonite, we've dined here many times and this was the first time we sent something back. The taste of the crab cake was off and even the manager mentioned that he's had that experience. The lamb chop which we requested to be prepared medium was raw in the middle. The dressing on the wedge salad was watery and bland. We'll be back and assume that this was just an off nite..

We had another phenomenal experience at Eddie Vs. Matt took the best care of us. He not only made our experience top notch, he made us feel relaxed and important. Highly suggest ordering the lobster bisque soup and adding the crab cake to it.
