CRU Food Wine Bar 2nd Street Downtown Austin

I'm not sure if the kitchen was busy, but our steaks were extremely overcooked (well-done instead of medium) and the crème brûlée was grainy with burnt sugar rather than caramelized. Our server seemed disinterested, especially compared to the attentive and charming server at a neighboring table. We had ordered wine flights but they were not explained, and it was unclear which glass contained which wine. Overall, the service was slow and the food quality was disappointing.

We arrived at 6:30pm and found that they were out of the appetizers we wanted. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant. However, the service was slow and the waiter who seated us and served us was unfriendly. The food was overpriced for what you receive. It's a good spot if you're looking for wine, pizza, or charcuterie, but not recommended for a dinner-focused meal.

I had a wonderful dinner before a show at the W hotel. The outdoor seating was lovely and the butcher pizza was delicious. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the wine flight. We will definitely be returning.

Food wasn’t great. Salmon was dry. No one liked the molten lava cake. It is a small space. No cocktails. Wine only.
