Bidrage med feedbackI'm in Austin traveling for work. I love Indian food and saw the Yelp ratings so I ordered delivery. What delicious food omg! I ordered one of the specials that come with a little bit of everything (Maharani). The portions were huge and everything tasted amazing... well almost everything. The chicken pakora was very dry, I didn't even try to eat it. The saag paneer was great- I wish there was more paneer but the purée tasted fresh and was not greasy. The mixed vegetables was a pleasant surprise! They were delicious! The chicken Tikka was ok but not amazing. The chutneys were so good! And the naan was huge! And delicious My meal came with tea but I wanted something bubbly so I ordered a Diet Coke (fountain drink)... it tasted like bleach I put it down the drain immediately Maybe they forgot to rinse out their hoses after cleaning?... that's pretty bad though. Not to mention dangerous. The tea however was surprisingly delicious! I was pleasantly surprised. As I mentioned before I ordered this for delivery, when the food came there were no napkins or utensils I had to go downstairs and borrow silverware and napkins from the hotel's restaurant. Summary: Delivery= Ok. Food= very very delicious (mostly). Soda= do not drink!
West Lake Hills is Dallas with Democrats. From a political standpoint, that can lead to an interesting discussion. From a Yelp/Restaurant standpoint, there is not much to discuss. Nothing will thrill you. Nothing will kill you. The restaurants are like husbands who are boring in bed, They are good providers and good with the children. Bombay Grill is about par for the course. It is a standard Anglo-Indian curry house. The Biriyani is made with Tandoori chicken rather than plain chicken which is a plus. Pappadam appetizers come one to a plate (chintzy) with the standard tamarind dip sauce and a smooshed up jalapeno dip sauce. Fish curry was standard issue and not unpleasant. Onion kulchi came out in two manifestations (after a complaint to the server). Version one had the wrong ingredients. Version two was greasy. Still... either version was good dipped in the fish curry sauce. Nobody died from eating the bread. Bombay Grill is an Indian restaurant you could take your grandmother to for an afternoon out of the home. Your afternoon will be pleasant enough. You want to have an amazing Indian meal in West Like Hills? Bombay Grill won't take you to amazing-ness. Go up and down the streets of West Lake Hills till you find the local Indian doctor or college professor. Invite them to dinner at your house and hope that they invite you back. The amazing Indian food in West Lake Hills is all served in people's dining rooms.
I was excited to order from the restaurant. I haven't been inside so my comments refer to delivery only. Delivery was as promised, approx. 1 hour. I ordered Chicken Vindaloo with Medium spice. It arrived hot and the portion was good sized. I am disappointed because while the chicken tasted fresh, it wasn't spicy and the dish itself was somewhat boring. The rice was not Jasmine so it didn't really soak up well with the dish. The Nan bread was tepid and a bit too chewy for my liking, but had good flavor. I am not certain I will patronize the establishment again. There are other Indian restaurants in Austin that do a better job of providing a better and more flavorful experience.
We recently tried out a few curries like Matar paneer, malai kofta and they tasted very good. Much better than my last experience. I'm updating my rating to a 5/5.
I like Bombay Grill....I don 't love it.....I LIKE IT......and that 's too bad. After reading many 5 Star reviews here, I was hopeful for a curry laced quickie for lunch today. I took a co worker here for lunch today as we both decided we needed to get an Indian fix. 'We ' selected Bombay Grill because she is from Round Rock (e.g. she is not familiar with this part of town), I was driving...and because there are not any choices for Indian food on a rainy day in SW Austin. Hmmmm.....it 's raining, overcast....a bit chilly.....it DOES seem like a good day for a quickie. : P Overall, the lunch buffet food was good..but sadly just not great. Tandoor Chicken good. Naan good. Chicken madras good. Saag paneer good. Mango pudding good. No beef, no lamb not good. Perhaps I was TOO hopeful for the same full flavored experience I get from other Indian restaurants around town. But just like mid term elections, we all HOPE big things will happen, and once the dust settles it 's just another M 'Fkin day. No full flavor. Nothing memorable. For a place to be memorable, it must appeal to 3 or 4 of my six senses. Just another 3.5 star experience that will not remain in my little pea brain for greater than 72 hours due to lack of sensual appeal. Well, since it did not happen today, maybe tomorrow will be better for a quickie fixie.
