La Provence - Athlone

Excellent food with quick and efficient service and surprisingly low prices for the quality means a must have experience when in Athlone especially if staying at the excellent Sheraton hotel.

Delicious food on a varied lenghty menu. Fast, friendly, efficient service from Jessica. A wonderful experience!

Rather than wander, and needing a more quiet and relaxing dinner, we chose to dine at La Provence. We were not disappointed. The dinners are prix fix and we chose to eat lighter with 2 courses each. The soup of the day was a vegetable purée that was absolutely excellent. I chose the fish chowder and that was excellent as well. For our main courses, we selected the Irish Chicken Supreme (complex and very interesting) and the Grilled Fillet of Sea Trout (a very nice combination of flavors). Several of the dishes we considered were not on the menu that evening so that made our selections somewhat limited. But overall, the service was excellent, the table soda bread was wonderful, and the quiet ambiance made the evening enjoyable.

We ate daily breakfast at this restaurant during our stay in Ireland. We were staying at the Sheraton so this was super easy. The waiters/waitresses were great. The breakfast buffet was fantastic! I’m not a big breakfast person but I was always able to find something I would eat daily. I really liked that there was a large selection of fresh fruit every day. The baked goods were delicious and my husband really enjoyed the hot food selection (eggs, bacon, potatoes, etc). I would recommend staying at the Sheraton and opting for the daily buffet. It made everything really easy and convenient!

Had an excellent chicken dish; was very pleased with their ability and willingness to accommodate allergies they gave me options for gluten free, dairy free meals and desserts.
