The Junction - Ashfield

We booked table for 18 for Boxing Day as Christmas treat for our family. It was great experience and atmosphere, staff were very attentive, regular checks in with us to make sure we were all ok. Everyone’s meals was excellent and they all enjoyed it...

Excellent service, visited for lunchtime pre Christmas meal with friends. Great choice from lunch and main menu. Portion sizes were generous, food was well presented and very tasty. Great value.

Sunday lunch menu at The Junction is a table d 'hôte roast dinner with a choice of 4 meat and one vegetarian option, not much to go wrong there you might think. Ordered 4 x meals exactly as offered on the menu but they managed to get one meat selection wrong. Further, we had to ask for vegetables which, when they came were very nice, but with 2 baby corn, two pieces of leek and some green beans we expected another dish to follow, but no. The vegetarian meal arrived without stuffing or Yorkshire pudding. When queried the reason given was the stuffing contains meat ! Curious. No mention of the missing Yorkshire. After 10 minutes or so we had the is everything OK with your meals? Our honest answer fell on deaf ears because when paying I got the same question again, was everything OK with your meals? . We can 't claim to be regulars, this was our first visit and, problems aside, the meals (if they 'd been complete) were reasonably good value. However, given the generally good reviews I expected a better experience.

Awful food. The Junction used to be amazing, I haven't been since before covid and was shocked at the drop in quality of the food, yet the prices were higher. It has changed hands in management and you can definitely tell. We will never be back here to pay for **** quality food at top prices. Mash was flavourless, roast potatoes were squishy, the meat in the pie was stringy and fatty. Absolutely awful. Before this we would have recommended them to anyone, but now we will be advising people against it.

If you're going to attempt to walk in as two on a Friday at 8pm with a restaurant that looked basically empty for somewhere that looks genuinely nice, don't bother going here as staff will just turn you away. Worked in hospitality for nearly 15 years and the only time I ever turned away a table of two is when I literally had no room to fit them in my restaurant. Unbelievably poor. First experience there and would've been a regular if the food and service had been as nice as looks on the internet. Don't see the point of returning and will be informing others not to bother either.
