Bidrage med feedbackBasic pub atmosphere with reasonably priced food. In fact steaks are probably the cheapest you will find anywhere in Melbourne. Food was good quality. No table service. Order and pay at counter, cash only, then collect when ready. The night we were in they had an old time rock and roll band playing, good fun.
We read about this bistro on TripAdvisor so thought we would try it. It's only a small area for dining but it's kind of quirky... we ordered the recommended porterhouse steak and while they were cooked perfectly, the steak was really tough which was a shame because the salad was delicious and the service excellent. I would recommend for travellers and backpackers for a nice cheap meal.
I could not believe the $12 and $15 main meals and that there were 2 out of 10 vegetarian mains, with side salads, vegies, potato (mashed and chipped), garlic bread and rice all available at low prices as sides. I had the grilled cajun chicken with chips, salad, and a mushroom gravy. It was of a good size, delicious and came fairly quickly. Then I noticed that although it was cooked right through, it was cool in the middle. I suspect it had been pre-cooked. I then noticed a lot of vegies being cooked, yet there was no one else in the dining room. Short-cuts !!
Been back within 1 week of our first try, the steaks were simply too good to pass by, and the price was the opposite of sky high.
I been there tonight with my girlfriend, they have live music and it's really fun. We ordered porterhouse steak + roasted lamb steak for $12 each. Both of the steak are medium rare without any complaints (We are steak lovers as well and been to many restaurants before). After we finished our meal. the Boss come over and offered free dessert (chocolate cake) we both love it as well :).
