Bidrage med feedbackWith the owner the best sommelier in Italy in 1974 at the helm and his grandson in the wings, it is absolutely right that Slow Food has thus restaurant and enecoteca in its list of Ascoli Piceno. Superb atmosphere, great wines and food, and juist off the beaten track. Well worth a small detour.
The name is somewhat odd: one would expect a huge rentral room with scintillating chandeliers. But fortunately, it is not so. Kursaal was given its name by the father of the current owners (two sisters), who worked in Germany. The restaurant is equipped with two intimate rooms. We were seated in the enoteca, which shows a surprising collection of wines, champagne and (sometimes extremely old) spirits. Indeed, wines and their combination with food are Kursaal's specialty. The pairings proposed by one of the owners were excellent, and so was the food. Being in the neighbourhood several times a year, we will certainly come back.
The owner opened for dinner just for us so I must admit that this review is not 100% objective. However I can assure you that the dinner we had was marvellous. Their campofilone was so good we had to order it twice! It was followed by a mix of succulent grilled meat and we concluded around 1 AM with some great digestives. Just try the Sgnape dal Checo grappa. Lucio, the owner is a living legend and has so many entertaining stories. We had a great evening at a great place.
Very well. very nice location near the sea. prices a little high but totally in line with food and location
The pasta dish I ordered arrived after an hour and a half
