Bidrage med feedbackWe first discovered this little gem when visiting with a group of friends for a special dinner a couple of years ago and a most enjoyable experience it was once again. This time we returned with another couple of friends and spent a most enjoyable evening over an excellent dinner. We chose the medium-priced four course set menu with a fairly balanced choice featuring locally sourced meat and fish all nicely prepared and cheerfully presented by our hosts Mr & Mrs Nesset, and accompanied by a modestly-priced wine list. We spent around £75 all in per couple and regarded it as thoroughly good value. Thanks again for another most memorable meal, - we look forward to our next visit!
Auberge de la Foret was recommended by the host at our B&B. We were very impressed. The service was very friendly and the food was delicous! The chef and his wife (Mr. & Mrs. Nasset) came out to our table for a friendly chat as we were finishing up our dessert (which was home made and one of the best desserts I have ever had - figs poached in some kind of liquor with some home made ice cream and home made biscuits). The fois gras was excellent. Prices were within reason. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We have eaten here several times over recent years and it is consistently good with a pleasant atmosphere. Small but very bright and clean restaurant. English menus available if required and owners speak English. Several menus at 13, 18, 22 and 32 Euros with the option to have just 2 courses from selected menus. I had the 13 Euro menu and started with Egg Cocotte followed by Steak-Frite with a poivre sauce. Unfortunately I had forgotten that the French like their steak chewey and stringy. Sauce and frites were good though. Dessert was a Chocolat mousse, simple but delicous. Accompanied by 50cl carafe of Vin Rouge from Bourgueil and Cafe noir to finish. My friends had similar but finished with Pannacotta. Total bill was about £67 without tip. All round the restaurant are paintings of various boating scenes which are for sale. Presumably a local artist.
We had the 17 Euro lunch here, which was well-cooked, inventive and nicely presented - and charmingly served by the patronne. We would recommend the fish soup, and I enjoyed the three-creme-brule dessert. Our bill, with coffee, came to just under 40 Euros, which we thought was good value.
