The George Dragon - Argelès-sur-Mer

Have been coming to Argeles for years and thank goodness the George and Dragon is now back under the management of the original owners after a break of six years. Very warm welcome and good bar food at affordable prices.

Expensive for drinks and very quiet during our stay in June. Menu board outside needs to be changed as it reads fish and chips 50 euros Don 't think they will encourage people in with this error

This resort needs a George and Dragon like it needs forest fires, thunderstorms and the Med version of a Tsunami. The couple who ‘run ‘ this bar seriously need to give up the ghost and cut their losses. It is dire beyond belief and with the few clientele (Irish who need a game of pool to get them through a fortnight in paradise with their children they must be losing money hand over fist plus what s worse bringing the entire resort down in everyone’s estimation. However if you want: Warm overpriced drinks Frozen English pie and chips (do not order any fresh food here under any circumstances Random pricing Cool if not cold welcome Dire depressing surroundings Then you may just love it! You’ll be one of very few! Harsh but entirely true it is disrespectful to genuine restaurateurs, chefs and proprietaires to continue to operate a business in this fashion.

We visited here regularly during our holiday Aug 2023. Run by a lovely English and German couple who were extremely accommodating and welcoming. We searched high and low for somewhere to watch English football and this is the only place in town.
