Bidrage med feedbackThe server was wonderful, very knowledgeable and attentive. The ambience was beautiful, Christmas decorations inside and outside. The ladies' room was warm, which is unusual in my experience, but certainly appreciated! The food was good. I'd definitely be back at Harper when in the area.
Food is good.. Service was great.. Definitely worth a stop..
We had the best experience in Harpers Tavern!? Not only was the food absolutely delicious from this world - we also had an absolutely out of this world server. She was at the top of things could not come before! I'm a BIG dumper, no matter what, but this server got a 70% TIP!! She was worth every penny we made sure she knew we appreciate everything she had done for us. I'm so terrible with name or I'd give her a scream. Unfortunately, I can't do that because I can't remember her name. ? There is such a story she gives you a newspaper that has all the information of 200 years ago when the first person owned the property. It is known to be persecuted, that was my main reason to bring my daughter there for her BIRTHDAY DINNER? We both love this. Anyway, I was glad that we not only have a GHOST for the fantastic service, but for the EXCELLENT FOOD to SPOT! My daughter saw the little girl in a dress run around playing behind the bar-just mentioned before me that a little girl was seen in a dress by others!! That was CRAZY-WE. It's a must to see space. If you like to know something about the past meaning bout 150yrs before or MORE) I'd be the one to follow this. It is very different beautiful transitions w/o change a lot of originality.
The food was great! There were various things I would order and hope that I would have a chance down the way. The special on Saturday was Prime Rib, so I went with it and was not disappointed. Very good meat cut and extremely tasty. I also had a cup of mussels and that was delicious! The tavern itself is very cool. Neat rooms and you can definitely feel the history of the building. In any case, get back! Too bad it took me so long to visit first!
This is an old building that apparently has been a pub and restaurant since 1804. It certainly has not been updated in a while. But it is charming. Service was first rate and prices were very reasonable. I got the Chicken Parmesan (which I found in the Pasta section for some reason) and it was good. It was served with a dinner salad, came with a warm roll, salad dressing etc. My only complaint was the the chicken itself was tough. So tough that I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it. A colleague of mine got one of the veals and had the same problem so it was either a problem in the kitchen that night, or maybe this is the way they prepare their meats? The server had a hard time describing the vegetable of the day. It was Brussels Sprouts and when we asked him how it was prepared, the question stumped him. Luckily the table next to ours had ordered it, overheard the conversation and showed us that the Sprouts were roasted. It was a good meal and enjoyable service even with a couple of small mishaps and if I'm in the area in the future, I will definitely want to stop in again as the menu is quite extensive with lots of options to explore.
