Bidrage med feedbackI know I said in my last review that I had gone to this place for the last time. But now I can say that definitively given the questionable business practices here. Being a Monday night, I was feeling lazy and wanted to order ahead and pick up some Pad Thai for dinner on the way home. I remember the Pad Thai being decent here, so I placed an order with Eat24. My food was ready at the requested time, but I had to remind the lady there to get my Thai iced tea. Which comes in a large cup but is filled to the brim with ice so it looks like you're getting a lot more than you are. I noticed while picking up my order that there was a sign advertising a 50% discount off your next order if you show them a positive review you wrote on Yelp (or Google or Facebook). That may explain some of the more recent five-star reviews. FYI, offering gifts or discounts to persuade customers to write reviews is against Yelp's terms of service. If you want to support a business that feels the need to incentivize positive publicity, then by all means go here. I, however, would rather not go somewhere that uses unethical business tactics. Plus the food is mediocre at best.
We stumbled upon this place today after Costco and when on the lookout for a place to have lunch. We walked into Thai town a bit skeptical thinking maybe we shouldn't have come here but everything changed the moment the food hit our tables. I don't remember the name but the appetizer number 12 on the menu is what we ordered as a starter and I have a pic of it attached it was amazing and is a must try. For our main dishes, I ordered the beef pad Thai and my wife got the red curry. Both dishes were tasty and we enjoyed them. The staff here is friendly and make sure they take good care of you. The only reason I give Thai town a 4.5 out of 5 is because the indoors could do with a upgrade. They are open until midnight so if you are looking for a place to find food later in the night, this is one to consider. The portions of the dishes are huge too. We took away the extra red curry from lunch and had it for dinner at home, along with some basmati rice and enjoyed it. This is what we ended up saying after dinner we need to go back to this place
I've come here a couple of times and had good experiences each time. The staff is always extremely friendly and I've always enjoyed the food I order. I recently came here with my friend and we both ordered pad thai. The food came out very quickly and it tasted amazing. The veggies were good and the tofu was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The only downside would be that this place gets very crowded, especially once it gets more than 3 tables full of people. Also, my friend had ordered pad thai with no eggs, however, when it came out we found eggs in the dish, but it was quickly taken care of. Otherwise, great place to eat if you're looking for good, cheap, quick food. Solid 8/10.
I loved Thai Town years ago at their old Spenard location, but haven't been in 5+ years. A friend and I decided to eat dinner at 11:00 Friday night, so our options for good eating were slim. When I opened Yelp and saw Thai Town was open until midnight, we couldn't say no! We ordered the yellow curry (w/ chicken), shrimp pad thai, and beef fried rice. Normally, I'm not a big fan of yellow curry, because often the chunks of potato are so large you hardly get much of anything else. Not true at Thai Town! The ratio of vegetables/meat/curry sauce was perfection. I could have done with a smaller portion of rice noodles but the shrimp was perfectly seasoned and created the perfect pad thai flavor. The amount of chili peppers and bean sprouts they put in the order was exactly the amount I would have added myself, which was impressive. The fried rice was cooked just right, with a subtle-but-savory flavor. Could have been stronger. Open late!
What 's happening to my Anchorage main stay restaurants?!? I called in a to go order. First time the lady put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back and she said it was because they were busy. Weird, think they must have been busy because of the wailing child they had in the kitchen. I ordered the spring rolls which came with a completely different sauce. They used to have this delicious peanut sauce. Sad. I also got the fried rolls which when we opened them at home were cold and soggy. The chicken pad Thai was strange, it tasted different and smokey? The yellow curry was okay, but it was separating like it had been cooked in a rush on high heat. What happened? I don 't think that this Thai Town is owned by the same people anymore. I would not waste your time, it 's all just going to end up disappointing.
