Cy's Roost - Ames

Definitely unique atmosphere: feels just like tailgating but in a closed-in place with a bar attached. It's a bit cramped and the music is so loud you can't hear anything, but you probably want that if you're social. This is a great place for a party or a tailgate atmosphere, but just that.

Best game day bar in town! Fast bartenders, DJ Danny is awesome, they even have a patio bar! Oh also free popcorn and hotdogs. If you're in Ames you need to be at Cy's Roost!

I've always had a good experience here. The back patio is a definite plus! Bartenders are quick and know their stuff; ask them for their favorite shot to make and you won't be disappointed.

For the first time, the bouncer asked for two forms of identification to enter the bar. Never in my 34-year-old life in any state or government office I had to provide two types of references. Now this was not the hesitation on the cake when we left and decided to bring more friends to this establishment, one of our foreign friends had an ID from their country and it was not accepted only by ever asking to get their picture and another picture of their ID. Remember, this is a bouncer or should I say that the manager keep the pictures on his personal phone. Not even cops can do this. I have made the manager or Prahler very patient about the legal problems that could arise if they continue to do so. Although I'm hard to believe that they do with the majority of college students going through this door. My group of friends had no younger than 21. Most of us, the late 20s and the early 30s. It felt racially motivated when we were all Latinos. It's hard to ignore the behavior when I've never asked a Bouncer for a face and an ID pick to keep on his phone. All the experiences were a zero, as we hardly managed to get into the actual bar.
