The Waterhead Inn - AMBLESIDE

We've stayed here before the change of ownership and refurbishment. If you've been before you need to stop comparing the old with the new. There is no comparison. They are two completely different animals. First off those people who have compared this to a Witherspoons are being very unfair. We slept in the rooms across the road so won't review the room again. The restaurant/bar is very clean and the staff are fantastic, polite and attentive. The best way to judge a place is how it deals with something when it goes wrong. We shared a mixed grill and it was massive. We noticed within a minute that the steak wasn't on the plate, called the server and he returned with the steak in less than a minute and apologised explaining that the chef had forgotten to plate it. Later we found that there was another small item missing again called the server over and pointed this out. He offered to go and get it but by now we were both full so declined. The server then offered us a free round of drinks as an apology. We had a cheese board after the main and I was very disappointed with it £13 for three little pieces of cheese some grapes crackers and pickle. Very disappointing. We were B&B. The breakfast is buffet style and I have to say I'm not a big fan of a hot buffet of any type. More often than not there'll be an empty tray waiting to be filled or one tray that's gone cold, but this breakfast was faultless. Everything there Every thing hot. Will be coming back. Stayed at the Lake house, lovely rooms, just a bit of an adventure getting across the road for breakfast Rooms: Beautifully refurbished, lovely bathroom, quiet Safety: Need to be aware that the path leading down to the main road and the hotel where meals are served is a little tricky, poorly lit and opens straight onto a main road with no pavement. The vehicle access driveway is an alternative but very narrow. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet

Perfection 10/10! A wonderful example of the Inn Collection around the lakes, perfect location, wonderful decor and furniture, great food at competitive prices and incredible service. To top it off being welcomed with our dog with some treats made the experience even better! Very impressed, perfect experience.
