Bidrage med feedbackMy family and I used a Groupon offer at this restaurant. Upon arrival, everything seemed fine, but we discovered that they were not offering what was advertised on the Groupon deal. The starter looked great and gave us high hopes for the rest of our meal. However, the main course took over 40 minutes to arrive and was cold by the time it got to us. The mashed potatoes looked like instant mash, and all of our mains looked like something you would get from a cheap all-you-can-eat carvery. The pork we ordered was tasteless. We didn't send it back because we didn't want to wait even longer for our food. The service was also slow, with the waitress forgetting about us when we asked for drink refills, making us wait another half an hour. The 2-course meal ended up taking 2 hours, which was unacceptable considering there were only 4 tables in the restaurant. It seemed like they were trying to keep Groupon guests away from full-paying customers in a separate dining area. I would not recommend this restaurant. The meal left two of us feeling ill. The chefs and staff definitely need better training.
The first time we dined at 24, the food was exceptional. Therefore, we decided to return after recently moving to Belper in search of a good dining spot. Unfortunately, our second visit was a disappointment. After taking a few months break, we decided to give it one more chance. However, this final experience was a letdown. The starters were average at best, and the main course was a disaster. The overcooked chicken was drowning in gravy, the potato rosti was rubbery, and the carrots had a clump of margarine on top. Even the waitress appeared embarrassed to serve such a dish. In conclusion, we will not be returning to 24.
24 has updated its menu and still serves delicious food. The dining area is at the front of the restaurant with the kitchen located at the back, which can sometimes put strain on the single server during busy times. On a recent Saturday, a group of football supporters stopped by, adding to the lively atmosphere. Despite the crowded conditions, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant has replaced its smaller square tables with round ones, which may limit space for couples dining together.
We went here with our family for a special dinner, but as others have said, it really misses the target for atmosphere, decor etc. I was expecting a proper hotel restaurant, and I was quite disappointed to be shown to a cramped table in the bar. We waited for about an hour for our starters, although the server was very apologetic when it came. The food was lovely, but not always as described the black pudding sundried tomato and poached egg salad came with no sundried tomato, and the egg was overcooked. The whitebait was described as crumbed, but was panfried in flour. Not huge problems, but the poor attention to detail is symptomatic of this hotel 's approach to a lot of things. All in all, a good place to come for a good dinner, but don 't expect a special experience .
We came to Twenty Four for a family dinner, and overall we enjoyed it. The restaurant itself was quite low key, more like a pub bar (and in fairness, the hotel's website describes it as a pub) than a restaurant really, and that made us quite nervous about the quality of the food. But in fact, with only small exceptions we were perfectly happy with the food! It was all yummy, and some things were absolutely lovely! The staff were great, but the service suffered very obviously from the fact that a wedding was taking place in the hotel. This meant long waits between courses, but as I say, the food was generally worth the wait. The impact of the wedding reception was felt in other places too: the lounge area and courtyard were filled with wedding guests, so we did feel like we were wedding-crashing a bit! Also, the toilets had run out of toilet paper and had gotten a little messy with abandoned glasses and so on. We'd love to go back and see how it is when there isn't a wedding going on, as it seems like it should be a great experience!
