Bidrage med feedbackA decent little eatery that is open 24 hours daily, which is rare for the Alpena area. The menu has a variety of Americana fare that is large enough to satisfy most hungry people. I tried an unusual omlette that turned out to be addictive. The ACC is an omlette filled with cottage and American cheese, and it's topped with chili. Most of the customers are flannel wearing smokers that live locally and frequent John Boys daily. The service is friendly and the prices are affordable.
We ordered pizza and chips with cheese last night. The pizza was good, and the crust wasn't hard or burnt, contrary to what some previous reviews suggested. The cheese had a unique texture—it didn't stretch like traditional pizza cheese—but it still tasted quite good.
The pizza is decent, but it has the potential to be outstanding. I suspect they might be over-kneading the dough because the crust is often quite tough to chew. On several occasions, I have received a burnt pizza, which I believe should never occur. A quick phone call to apologize and explain that the pizza isn't up to standard would have made me very happy. I would much prefer to wait a bit longer than be served something that's not fit to eat.
I don't visit Alpena very often, but when I do, I always look forward to the Sunday coffee. The service is exceptional for a small diner atmosphere!
I never got anything I didn't like.
