The Great Escape - Allerdale

The food was decent, but we felt that the salad was being used as a filler on the plate, with chips being an additional cost of £4. While we understand that food prices have gone up, the prices in some cases are comparable to those of higher-end restaurants rather than a casual coffee shop. The service was satisfactory, though somewhat impersonal. The coffee shop was not very warm, as other customers kept their jackets and coats on. After dining here multiple times over the years, we left feeling disappointed.

We absolutely adore this cafe! The breakfasts are incredible. Everything is freshly prepared with local ingredients and always served piping hot. Beautiful!

My dad, daughter, and I visited this restaurant for lunch during the week. The parking was ample and the café was spacious. The food appeared to be mostly homemade and the prices were fair.

Good place to stop for refreshments. Nice selection on menu with a selection of daily specials. Lovely home cooked food and nice selection of scones and cakes. Nicely presented. Staff welcoming and helpful. Didn't have too long to war for our food.

I go as often as I can. The recent bad weather and my disability has prevented me going recently. The food is excellent, all freshly cooked and home baked. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is spotlessly clean in all aspects. Wine, beer and...soft drinks are available. I am looking forward to making my regular visits soon.
