Little Basil - Allerdale

We have been customers for many years and the food has always been superb really freshly cooked with great ingredients.

Excellent customer service, the food was ready for collection exactly when they said it would be and it was piping hot and delicious.

We really enjoyed the beef Thai green curry and sticky rice. The Thai dishes are prepared by the chef who is from Khon Khien, Thailand whilst the Chinese dishes are cooked by a cantonese chef. We also had the mixed meats Thai fried rice and requested a kai dow on top (fried egg). No problem. Reasonably priced and delicious. We will visit again next time we stay in Cockermouth.

We had sweet chicken balls with fried rice. The chicken was very small pieces covered with very pale mass. The dough was crunchy and tasty, but it didn't look like chicken balls anywhere else where you've tasted the same dish. The sauce was also very pale, almost colorless. At first I wondered if it was a lemon sauce but it was bittersweet. Just all very different. The fried egg rice was good.The service was not excellent. To begin, they made the wrong order and tried to blame us for the mistake.

We ordered a take-away last week and I was actually shocked when I opened the bag at home. The main course tub was just over half way full, so empty, I checked to see if it had been open in the bag (it hadn't). I was further shocked that it had only 4-5 pieces of meat and was not really tasty.... a supermarket sauce would have been so much better...................... Never again! Even the service was impolite.
