Bidrage med feedbackWe ate here on two evenings, having seen that it had been awarded an AA Rosette. Sadly the food disappointed. Whilst our starters were acceptable, the main courses were poor. In particular the Halibut and mussel risotto at £24 was a disaster. Hot plates were not used which didn't help and dishes. Maybe the chef was on holiday but that is no excuse.
On our 1st visit to this restaurant we were impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere with a traditional decor. We were shown to our table by the charming waitresses. We had pre-booked the 3 course lunch menu, 2 of us having the soup and 1 the smoked salmon all agreed that it was of a high standard. The mains gave plenty of choice I had the turkey with all of the trimmings, my wife and daughter having the lamb, the food was delicious, very well presented and plentiful. We all agreed that it was a very pleasant atmosphere and there were plenty of other patrons here, who all seemed to be having a good time, the waitresses were very good and very pleasant. the desert was delicious and the chef had even written happy birthday on the daughters dish in chocolate : , mince pies and coffee followed , all in all we had a lovely time we were well sated and for under £20 pp excellent value.
Booked this restaurant for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and made an excellent choice. Food and service very good and staff attentive without being overbearing. Considering the recent awards this restaurant has the prices were more than reasonable too.
Fast and efficient service from what appears to be a fixed menu. Stayed for three nights and ate in the restaurant for the whole of our stay. Mostly good but experienced chewy lamb, cold plates and only mediocre breakfasts (poor, strangely cooked bacon) ..... oh yes and a 250 ml of Sauvignon Blanc for £10.25 !!
Had dinner here as part of our hotel deal and I personally loved the food here. Had seared scallops as a starter followed by pan fried salmon and then a milk and white chocolate mousse. The dishes were creative, packed with flavour and not too filling. My vegetarian partner was not as impressed due to others with her main. She ordered a goats cheese and red pepper tart, but received a red pepper quiche. Had to wait quite a while for a new dish to be made. The service could definitely have been more attentive throughout as at times it was difficult to see a waitress and then to attract their attention. My review on balance is a 4, but my partner, if reviewing, would have scored it lower.
